Yeah, Burnaby seems to be really tough to deal with these days, transit-wise!

But they have always been like that.

Exciting to see those station diagrams! The stations look really nice.

The Burnaby Heights BIA probably ranks high in the list of moronic BIA heads in Metro Vancouver.

Look at all the off street parking they have and still they complain about loosing street parking. I saw one clever member of the BHBIA suggested that they should build bus bulbs along Hastings to improve the bus speed, conveniently ignoring the fact that doing so would mean the removal of the rush hour bus lanes

It's okay as the area gets redeveloped all the interesting shops will disappear and no one will have a reason to drive down there lol

In theory - in practice it's not unusual to see someone (usually on a mobility scooter) with a small dog on a leash.

OMC1 construction video update

This will house an upgraded shop for the guideway and rail-borne equipment teams, dedicated staff offices and amenities, and additional train maintenance bays specifically designed for our longer Mark V trains. We’ve also extended our cleaning and inspection building to accommodate the new trains.

The massive new vehicle maintenance shop has been built in two phases — the east side of the building is already occupied and being utilized by SkyTrain staff.

The final beam on the steel frame for the west part of the facility was recently laid and a “steel-topping ceremony” was held to commemorate this milestone.

This is an exciting time for SkyTrain OMCs!

- OMC1 Expansion for Mark V trains (noted above)
- OMC 2 new operations centre almost complete
- OMC 3 expansion (already complete I think?)
- OMC 4 construction
- OMC 5 construction starting in a couple of years

OMC1 one was so much bigger before they caved (in my opinion) to let the road cut the yard size by 1/3. That's allot needed space.

Fun fact, Southridge didn't actually take away any of the yard. It was in the long term plan to go there.

Translink has released the Burrard Peninsula Transit Plan they have been working on for quite a while, this covers Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster bus service.
