They'll probably put traffic lights in at 1/5 if I were to bet on it.
As much as I think a median widening and RCUT would be functional, I believe a traffic light should be added and it would cut most of the costs. Accidents still can happen with traffic lights (with everything LOL), but still better than nothing.

I wouldn't want a roundabout on a 4 lane Highway, unless maybe a Turbo Roundabout.

Uhh so I just opened the Manitoba interactive road construction map and happened to look at the Highway three and 100 interchange and it has been updated to 2026 to 2029? Please tell me this is a joke or wrong.?

I saw that I went to the government of Manitoba website and it still says 2025. So I’m hoping it’s just an error because that would be really bad..

There are two blue circles on the map for the structure over the river one on the bridge on the map and a little dot just north in Fort Richmond. Kind of weird

^I could get a better list together of the high dollar projects listed in the latest infrastructure plan. But there is a $110 million dollar project listed for the Red River bridge.

Based on all the info and structure replacement tag, they will be upgrading/rehabbing/replacing the bridge crossing to align with the Perimeter Freeway projects. If McGillivray is "delayed" by one year, so be it. In general progress is still moving. Ste. Anne's is identified as next project. So the plan marches on.

110 million dollar bridge project for PTH 100 at Red River. That seems like either a new bridge or a complete rebuild and expansion of the existing. Maybe both.

PTH 59/52 twinning is in there.

PR 307 in the Whiteshell basically fully replaced in segments. $200million plus.

And the PTH1 / 10 interchange in Brandon, as mentioned in the highways thread.

I'll move this convo over there.

Thanks Biff. Do you know timelines on when they expect to award the project? Or are they just starting the competition period? If they're just starting that would lead to confirm the project start being delayed to 2026 construction start.

You're right though, good news there is progress.

The MTI map now shows a summer 2026 start to construction 🙃

Ya we were discussing earlier in this page of the thread. If it's actually delayed, I'm going to guess it's a strategic funding related thing with the large deficits recently.

A copy of a slide deck MTI presented to the RM of Macdonald showing timelines, impacts to local infrastructure, final interchange design, etc.

Yes, project delayed a year. Issues with property acquisition.

I also heard the preferred design is being worked on for north perimeter. Should be something coming in the near future. But they're still working with stakeholders on specific locations.

Ohh Manitoba, they only had five years to prepare for this when it was initially announced…

Disappointed the McGillivray project doesn't include the rail overpass at the CEMR crossing. I know it's low use and such. But the project name includes "Perimeter Freeway". and now is the perfect time to do it efficiency wise.

The entire west Perimeter would be an actual freeway from PTH 6 to east of the McGillivray project., They could close the last few remaining access points north of the CEMR crossing as the rail overpass provides access across (under) the Perimeter and it'd be a freeway.

Also, McGillivray schedule is here. Target open to traffic date of August 31, 2029.

I'd much rather save the $40-$50m on a rail overpass for a seldom used rail line and build a diamond at Pipeline.

Let's just do it all haha. I know, I know.. But they're basically doing work up to the railway Just go that extra bit further. I assume the overpass would be part of a future grade widening project for the roadway to the north.

Pipeline is the obvious easy first step on north Perimeter. Would be the cheapest and most effective use of money at a key location. PTH 6 appears it will be expensive but should be up there on the list. Dugald would probably be 3rd in priority with Gunn and Wenzel being 4th and 5th.

Makes sense. I'm sure they'd sooner relocate the rail lines West of the Perimeter to connect with the CN Rivers Subdivision. As there are still some grain elevators alongside the line, I probably wouldn't see it get pulled for a while, maybe unless the services get relocated to the CP Glenboro Subdivision
