According to Jens von Bergmann on Twitter, who is a data analyst, I believe he noted once that these four "regions" would all be included in the Metro Vancouver CMA if we didn't have such strict rules preventing CMA's from merging. They would easily qualify for MSA status in the US as well (not CSA).

Metro Vancouver has sat at 2.6 million for years due to Wikipedia. It hasn't been updated in a long time, and it's where everyone goes to look up population numbers.
