This is awesome! It's been a long wait, but the last bit will be really exciting when trains start zipping down the track for testing.

Are all the stations substantially completed? Which need the most work?

Testing should start this year in the West. Don't remember the date, but I think it will be by summer.

Most stations are well advanced, not far behind the East honestly. Westboro is the only one that's further behind, but that was by design as they wanted to keep the Scott Street trench open as long as possible. Last I checked, concrete work was nearly done, so steel shouldn't be far behind.

Lincoln Fields has looked substantially completed for many many months now (maybe 6+) but have noticed since XMAS that they have even installed some of the last minute things like signage & perhaps even fare machines?

They want Lincoln Fields done first in the west. It's sort of their test station, or something to that effect.

Interesting. So they are using the fake metal ceilings on the west section too, even though at moodie it looks like they have the stage 2 style wood slats. Maybe it's just at certain stations, or it isn't what it looks like in the Moodie picture.

I kind of prefer the ceiling they used on the trillium line stations though, it's more convincing.

Am I naive to think that they are developing really well on the West extension and might actually deliver something on time? The tracks are being laid, the vehicles are on site and the stations are all really close to complete. Do you think it will open in 2026? Early 2027? Can't wait to see some trains testing down the line.

Construction seems to be advancing quite rapidly and they state track work and most station work should be completed in 2025.

With that being said, they also state goal is to "handover to the City at the end of 2026" with trial running and start of operation in 2027.

This is the first time I hear 2027 being mentioned... this is disappointing.

These rail systems are so complex. It takes forever to test and debug them for safe operations. How times have changed. Reading back to when electric streetcars were introduced and it was crazy how fast it was from laying track until opening for service even using public streets. It might take 3 to 6 months. Construction moved fast and the much simpler streetcars seem to work with few problems almost immediately.

It will give them some time to work out the kinks before we move the Sens to Lebreton and start relying on the lines for all of our big events.

They'd better, otherwise it will be nearly 2 hours to get from Moodie to Trim.

If at both ends you can walk to your destination. Well, there is also Uber. Door to door that might be 30 minutes., but as others have said, at least the 2 hours is predictable.
