There were! But none that were in person at the meeting that were able to speak directly. In the Zoom call, the NIMBYs out numbered YIMBYs in the Chat/Q&A -- but still a fair amount of people who virtually supported it.
I do wish I had gone in person to interrupt and have at least
one person to support it. But I left minutes before it ended and 100% of the attendees that were picked in the crowd to speak their feedback were against it 100%
One lady literally cried and said it was "
a 'monstrosity' and would absolutely destroy the charm of Old Town" Another gent was asking a
ton of "What Ifs" on traffic scenarios.
The developer defended his stance selfishly as he should and gave them the given fact that Old Town hasn't built a high-rise for almost 50 years (which was astounding to learn). Last time Old Town built a high-rise was 1983. I still don't think anyone is sold on this though. It was truly astounding to see these people talk their nimbyism so much. Made me so ashamed this of this City.
