That's a pretty disjointed facade for the Chanel store.
It's hard to even tell where the entrance is.

One would assume the black section to the left is a Chanel beauty (fragrance, etc.) store with it's own entrance, while the rest is a Chanel fashion (clothing, accessories) store with the entrance on the other side.

Thanks.
I would never have guessed that from the rendering, but I guess it might be more obvious when you walk by.

The Body Shop at Lougheed has closed down, as well as the Body Shop at Park Royal. PR is getting a Delaney coffee where Artigiano used to be and Artigiano is opening a new cafe and bar concept where the Trattoria restaurant was. Also noticed Trattoria was going to open at Willowbrook but now Sing Sing will open in that spot. Hello Nori at PR looks like it could open soon, the interior was looking done.

They just concluded a sale to Serruya Private Equity in December

The price Serruya’s firm will pay for The Body Shop Canada was redacted from court documents but includes both cash and the assumption of certain liabilities. Those documents say The Body Shop Canada’s creditors are owed between $11.5 million and $12.5 million to its creditors.

The Broadway store is kind of a dump and never that busy. I hope it goes.

Comark to Close Cleo and Ricki’s Chains Amid Challenges
Quote:
Comark Holdings Inc., the Vancouver-based parent company of Bootlegger Clothing Inc., Cleo Fashions Inc., and Ricki’s Fashions Inc., has filed for creditor protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA). The move signals turbulence in the Canadian retail landscape, as the company announces plans to shutter its Cleo and Ricki’s brands entirely and downsize Bootlegger in an effort to find a buyer.

That's a bit misleading, unless something has changed very recently. Comark was based in Mississauga, and while Bootlegger was founded in Vancouver in 1971, the business is now run from Winnipeg. Apart from the stores that will close in the Cleo and Ricki's chains, I don't think any jobs are affected here. The notice of the company winding up was issued in Mississauga. (I realize this is in the retail thread, so relevent to the store closures, rather than in the business thread).

a former dentist or office space is becoming a Change lingerie store at Metropolis and Reitmans is opening a store on the lower level in what seemed like a revolving space for temporary stores.

Maybe that signals a re-emerging bricks and mortar retail demand?

the boathouse store a few doors to the right on the upper level was closed, all signage removed but there was construction going on inside.

It used to be 'eccotique Salon & Spa' (it shows on google maps - a friend thought it used to be a daycare and I looked it up to correct him).

Rumour alert

Through someone I know on the periphery of leasing at Oakridge, it appears that Gucci may not be part of phase 1. (Retailers who were not part of the first phase are now being contacted about new "leasable space availability", namely the space that Gucci was slotted for).

Again, speculative rumour, but perhaps someone with closer ties to retail leasing may have more insight.

Gucci's not on the plans shown on the website since last September.

Phase 2 is all outdoor facing space, except if they are taking former Hudson's Bay space (which may allow 2 storeys)?

I don't ever recall Gucci being mentioned for Oakridge Park?

Have Oakridge’s developers been redesigning the HBC space prior to the announcement that they weren’t opening a store?

Gucci is probably not in expansion mode right now anyway as their sales are tumbling and the company is struggling. In the most recent quarter their sales were down 25%.

The building permit for the space says nothing was happening in it.
