Not sure if this will actually halve the $125 and $59 return fares in half.. but I’m going to try.

Code expires at midnight Mountain Time.

That code is expired but I tried ‘BOXING35’ to no avail. These prices are pretty rock-bottom so can’t complain!

I did some research and possibilities for onward connections are very limited because of the flight times in and out of YSJ. If Flair simply adjusted this YSJ-MCO route to an early departure/late return, there would be a ton of viable connections to some major S.American and unique Carribean destinations (for NBers) that would be way faster and significantly cheaper than going through Toronto or Montreal! Something Flair should consider if adding another day due to high demand.

The Flair codes only discount the base fare which as you mentioned is already quite low. I priced YSJ to MCO today for mid March and was $135 down, $169 return base fare before fees & taxes etc. If you add luggage package & seat selection it about doubles to a total of $500 or so return. Which is a great rate for direct from Saint John to Orlando when compared to Air Canada which adds 1 connection for about twice the price on average. Otherwise Allegiant direct from Bangor is a little less & Breeze direct for about same but factor in 6 hrs driving, gas, at least plus potential meal:hotel means advantage Saint John. All in it’s a win win for me this year.

Some excitement at YHZ the other night.

Dash 8's rather known for landing gear incidents over the years from what I recall.

Had some flight diversions to YQM as a result (according to YQM Planespotters Facebook Group).

Great to hear that all hands and passengers were evacuated safely.

Indeed. With actual smoke and fire reported on the left hand side it could have turned out very differently.

My wife actually had a similar experience way back in the Eastern Provincial days on a 737-200. Dragged the wing tip down the runway in a shower of sparks when the gear collapsed near the end of the landing roll out. Luckily they had slowed quite a bit at that point and stopped quickly. ....Deployed the slides though and evacuated the aircraft.

Hi everyone. I'm flying out of Fredericton for the first time next month and I'm just wondering how early we should get to the airport. I know it's not a busy airport but we have a hour and a half drive so we are wondering what time we should leave home. Flight is at 2:15

I would aim to be there for 12:45pm at the very latest. 1.5 hours before your flight is more than adequate for a domestic flight out of Fredericton

Thanks for answering my question. I'm more worried about lines in Otttawa coming back but that's a issue I'll deal with when it happens.

My daughter booked the Porter flight from YFC to Ottawa next Monday (connecting to Vancouver)

Air Canada continues to show YSJ great respect and every consideration. YSJ-YVR Jan 6 on AC? $1083 Porter from YFC? $553 Jeeeez!

They really don’t care, even though Saint John hosts one of their largest call centres outside Montreal.

I’ve always wondered if some executive in Montreal figured cutting down the SJ flights was a way to save the corporation a little bit of money by making it harder for the many Air Canada employees that live in Saint John to take full advantage of their flight benefits. Wouldn’t put it past them…

Moncton airport greeted more than 620,000 passengers in 2024: CEO
Increase in passenger numbers prompts airport to deal with congestion and begin thinking about a terminal expansion

Not much new here compared to a similar article published a couple of months ago, but, they are making operational changes to deal with congestion at the airport, and are clearly planning for terminal expansion. It is no longer a matter of "if", but "when."

Also, that 620,000 passenger number is only up until December 1st. The actual passenger numbers for the year will likely be in the 675,000-680,000 range. Passenger traffic at the airport is back to pre-pandemic levels.

We didn't even consider YSJ. It was always between Freddy and Moncton. Fredericton is closer to home and it was a bit cheaper so we choose Freddy. Though I'm not excited about driving from Fredericton at 11PM on the night we fly back home but we have to do it. If only there was a YQM or YFC flight to Boston. We would of used that

I think the only way a Boston flight would work would be if it was operated by a major American carrier so you could easily (and relatively cheaply) connect onwards. Although, US flights were tried out of both YQM and YFC in the past and failed to thrive.

I remember when Air Canada and later Air Atlantic flew to Boston from YSJ. Unless you wanted a shopping/Red Sox/Bruins trip to Boston they were kind of useless. We looked at it as a route to Bermuda but connection timing and cost made AC out of YSJ cheaper and easier.

From what I understand YQM's biggest issue is processing four flights worth of passengers through the security bottleneck at the same time in the early AM. Unfortunately any fix for that is more about CATSA adding staff and lanes rather than anything the airport authority can do........ and we all know how responsive CATSA is when it comes to customer service.

True, but the departure lounge can also get very congested at times as well, especially in the early AM, or with unfortunate scheduling of sun flights.

As much as a Boston flight is unlikely it would be nice to have. When we go to Boston we take the train out of Freeport. A flight to Logan would be more expensive but much more convenient.

The nice thing about Amtrak is the free, long term parking. Never had issues getting a spot in Brunswick, ME, but I could see it possibly being an availability issue in Portland, ME.

I’d really like to see us get a flight back to Boston, but I think a bus would be a lot more easily achievable and more affordable. A bus that left in the very early morning, or a night bus, would both be great options.
