That's what the render looked like. It's a style you see in quite a few Perkins & Will designed buildings, both commercial and residential.

The size of the windows are small. Prefer floor to ceiling windows and then omit that bottom spandrel. Also, the colour of the spandrel is awful.

Oh, that's the PCI building.

It's the proportion of the glass to spandrel that makes it look off, plus the industrial floor sealant gray colour.
Darker coloured spandrel would have looked better.

It's like the old BC Hydro Building on Burrard BEFORE conversion to condos (when they replaced the original windows with windows having more vision glass and less spandrel).

Here's a couple of pics by me back from whenever that BC Hydro Building conversion took place (1990s?).
Replacement windows near top, older windows near bottom.
You can see how the aesthetics are quite different.

It would do us well do just ban spandrel. A lot of opposition to development is because it is ugly. Making development more appealing would be good for housing.

That rendering looks about the same vintage as one of the earlier designs of the now defunct design for the VAG.
