The option to keep and operate the ballpark is not underwhelming, imo. That’s honestly the best outcome at this point. I was certain that a 5-over-1 was going to grace that corner. Could still happen, I guess.

Definitely underwhelming and a mistake not to integrate the ballpark into the new proposal.

Wasn't there a public competition to farm ideas for the Ballpark? And the winning idea was to reuse the ballpark itself as a women's sports arena or something? Seems like that was just a dog and pony show.

That said, I don't really see the use in keeping the stadium itself and like the adaptive reuse concept. I also think it would be a perfect place to relocate the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Museum into a purpose-built space.

Did any of you guys see the program on CNBC that ran last night called :Cities of Success: Salt Lake City"?

It was a great program which highlighted Salt Lake city From a business perspective.

It talked about Salt Lake and Utahs great high tech industry and how the 2002 Olympics and the building of City Creek Center totally changed the character of Downtown salt lake and set the trajectory for how the city is now moving forward.

There was an extensive interview with Ryan smith and about his new sports and entertainment district that will be built downtown.

They also mentioned that "numerous big cranes will be going up downtown within the next year" which I assume they were talking about the new sports district.

Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the article. Does the first option not integrate the ballpark? Are you referring to strictly the diamond where the players played?

I made sure to record and watch that. Packed full of one hour of positive PR for SLC, I really enjoyed it! Also, another one of those soapy real estate shows premiered last week centered around the SLC CSA market. This one is on Bravo. It's typical of those real estate sales reality shows, but they are very popular and I guess more free PR for SLC. That's three recurring reality series now filming in Salt Lake.

The CNBC highlight last night wasn’t bad, but the reality shows that are filmed here are awful PR for the city.. uber cringe.

It's funny they talk about reality shows that are filmed here when zero actually ever take place in Salt Lake City. That new real estate show about SLC never shows any actual Salt Lake homes...they're all homes either in the hinterlands beyond the actual metro or suburbs.

This ain't Salt Lake City lmao:

The city should sue and force them to change it to Utah Housewives or Sold on Utah just to save their reputation. These people in these shows are awful lol

Someone who lives in like Woodinville would say Seattle when asked where they live. Or Denver if they live in littleton. Phoenix if they live in Chandler. It's technically not correct, but it is the same metro.

In conclusion, those shows and the people in them are awful.

Just saw that there was a building permit filed for the West Village apartments at 401 W. 900 S. This was a development I was super excited for after seeing the initial plans two years ago. Glad to see some movement.

These are also the same people who probably think downtown Salt Lake is nothing but crime and homeless lmao

With that said, some of this is really egregious.

Like, I'm pretty sure what is showing in that title card is around Saratoga Springs. That is not Salt Lake. I don't think anyone in Utah County says they're from Salt Lake lol

Even 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 Bitchin’ Rides would note when they were in Ogden or Lehi and not on state street. As someone who works in film/TV I assumed maybe the Housewives editors in LA were cutting random B-roll together assuming it was all SLC.. but no, those women are almost never in SLC.

I watched Gene Simmons Family Jewels back in the day and I wonder how many times they weren’t actually in the San Bernardino Valley when stated.

It really shows just how powerful the city is compared to the state. I've said for years that maybe the Jazz and other pro teams would be best suited going by 'Salt Lake' because it does seem to have less of a stigma than just the name 'Utah'. But of course, I could be talking out my 🞵🞵🞵.
