Ah sorry, my bad. I thought he was talking about the Ray Wan housing tower at Misery.

Did Ray do the ER expansion at ST. B?.

Super cool. That'd be great student housing for university students, cross the street and you're at class!

I have no idea. Was just mixed up about the topic and I was at the hospital there today.

Is this another UofW initiated project? Is it connected to the Gladstone block and if so would that be undergoing rennovations to bring it to current standards?
Is it my imagination or does it look like anote Carrington design?

is this a real thing, or just someone's concept? If it's actually going to happen, fantastic.

Very cool. That will really stand out in the neighborhood.

Looks like the development will preserve the park on Ellice, which is the site of a memorial to the Hasselmere apartment fire, Winnipeg's second deadliest.

Its a real thing. I heard about it a little over a month ago. Like he says - 150 units, 18 storeys.

The rendering looks like clip art though. I do not know who the architect is yet. They are hoping to start in summer if the get approvals

wasn't there a david penner design for that site a number of years ago?

Interesting that its not a UWCRC project. I wonder who it is and what approvals they need.

Wintrup uses the phrase 'discressionary planning approval' a lot. I'm not sure what that means.

Oh wow, I really like that spot for a 18 storey tower. Cant say im a huge fan of the design but it seems very preliminary.

Anyone got info on who the developer might be?

Looks like Carrington based design. Such as the Stradbrook fire building and the two BRT adjacent buildings near Jubilee.

The term 'discretionary use' is used instead of 'conditional use' in some states and (I think) some provinces. Could be what he's referring to?

I believe you are thinking of this old David Penner vision of The Plug-In Gallery located just south of there on the UofW old Grey Hound courier site.

Their MO has been to take over existing projects....would be different if this was them.

I can tell you where they get their money from......................

Well that proposal came out of nowhere. As far as I know, the U of W is not involved. I'm not going to lie, that area is really rough. But if they think they can make it work, then go for it. The site right now is just a gravel parking lot so just about anything getting built there would be a huge upgrade.

You're not wrong, but at the same time it's one block away from all the towers that have gone up on Colony.
