Somewhat off topic but a Tribune editorial related to development mentioned its support for aldermanic prerogative. Good luck moving beyond this system

Sad to see in a city like Chicago, seems they have too much power already. Just to think that a supertall could have been rising at 400LSD right now.

The Calatrava Tower failed because the developer bit off more than he could chew. Had nothing to do with the city.

Absolutely maddening, that site deserved better; hopefully it doesn’t affect this project as well. Aldermanic prerogative has got to go.

I hope this project goes through with no height or density reduction. These NIMBYs are absolutely off their rockers. Old town is full of high rises, this tower will not change the nature of the neighborhood one bit. Chicago needs more housing to reduce rents and home prices, and to increase the tax rolls to help the city's budget crisis.

People have too much say in what others do with their property. If they want to block development, buy the property and keep it as is. Put your money where your mouth is. Otherwise, step out of the way so that we can continue to build this great city.

How many meetings are they up to by now? This is just getting insane. The tower is surrounded by many other towers of more-or-less the same size, completely within the context of the neighborhood, but no matter what you do, how you try to appease them, you will never satisfy the NIMBYs

12.05.24 Meeting on Traffic




The developers commissioned a drone video of the area and then plopped their building into the footage. I've included a couple of screenshots of the video.

-There will be a reduction in the number of parking spaces from 450 to I don't know what' visually it looks to be about 1/3, The parking podium reduction in size (encouraged by CDOT) to create an interior 'courtyard' for truck turnaround and rideshare.


-Dr. Joe Schweiterman (president of the transportation research forum, Chicago chapter) was asked by the alderman to do an Independent review of the traffic study/enhancements and it appeared to be favorable of the changes.


There were perhaps 50-60 people in attendance. I got there 15 minutes late and got a 2nd row seat. The alderman was not there.

Looks like the developer has gone above expectations for street level improvements with 12 curb cuts eliminated and 18 new bump outs for Ped safety. The building itself blends in with neighborhood. This is a good project!

My God, just approve this project already! Onerous NIMBYism is killing construction all across the city. Chicago needs housing and it need more tax dollars coming in! This building is well designed, will fit in with just fine in the confines of the neighborhood, and the developers are bending over backwards to appease the insane demands on the neighbors. Lets go!!
