The NBA left Vancouver due to lack of corporate support and left Seattle due to age of Key Arena, I doubt they will return to either market especially lacklustre Vancouver.

I'm sorry if the NBA gets run out of Seattle & Vancouver. Off the top of my head you'd see a team in the following places before Moncton.

- Vancouver
- Seattle
- Las Vegas
- Albuquerque
- Montreal
- Nashville

Sadly north american sports is based around expansion fees / corporate tickets & suites etc. If the NBA was setup like a European football league where Moncton could enter in the lower divisions and work there way up, then maybe?

But you'd have better luck getting a team in Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal, Hamilton, Halifax, Quebec City before Moncton.

Also Atlantic Canada has struggled for a basketball league to last for more than 3 years in the last 20 odd years.

What Stupid engineering to not have a drainage system. A good example of fearless engineering.

The roof will always be there, no need for a drainage system. Really ?

And what happens if that roof is torn away in a windstorm ? Did they not consider that ?

Any Stadium or arena under construction Needs to have a floor drainage system in case it rains during construction of the bowl. That's just common sense.

BC Place was Never designed as an Outdoor stadium EITHER and I know for a fact they have a floor drainage system cause when the dome popped in 2008, it was pouring rain but the drainage system in the concrete floor prevented flooding.

The hurricane was not anticipated but neither was a BC Place worker's stupid decision to Not turn on the heating system for BC Place's roof (in order to save money lol) to prevent ice / snow buildup on the roof which later caused ice / snow to fall down the side and slit open a roof panel which caused the deflation.

Fearless engineering accomplishes nothing.

According to the Tyee, the drainage system was added when the roof was replaced in the early 2010s.

Key Arena is no more, it is now Climate Pledge Arena and the NBA is absolutely going back there. The question will be, once the league officially decides to expand, is whether Seattle is the first or second expansion city (Vegas being the other).

If Elon Musk wants to pay $8 billion for a team and arena in his mother's hometown of Regina than I don't see the NBA turning him down. They would encourage Houston instead. I think the expansion fee would diminish the costs of having a team in Regina.

Apparently, if basketball returns to Seattle, the team will retain the history of the SuperSonics franchise, including retired numbers, jerseys, championships and such:

It's interesting how most of the Quebec based teams play out of barns (except for QC of course), while the majority of the Maritime teams play out of miniaturized, or at least scaled back NHL calibre facilities. The Wildcats even have an organist!

The four best rinks in the Q are located in Halifax, Moncton, Saint John and Quebec City.

Guertin was a great junior barn and a great place to see concerts (in the 90's at least ). I remember seeing Live/I Mother Earth there at the peak of their popularity. Was a great show except we had all of our coats in a giant pile somewhere (was all general admission) and someone puked all over the coat pile! Anyway, let's hope for just as many great memories in the Slush Puppie Centre....

Did they do that for Ottawa, cause we have the original Sens Stanley Cups in the rafters, along with a retired jersey from one of the original franchise players (who had a hand in bringing the Sens back and was retired posthumously when the franchise returned).

Would have been really cool if Phoenix had been the team relocated to Winnipeg instead of Atlanta, that way it WOULD have been the same team.

The Jets 1.0 franchise is actually dormant because the Utah franchise is technically new. Even though its all the same players. The Winnipeg records will be given to a new Phoenix team if a new owner builds an arena and sis granted the franchise. It's stupid. The perfect time to give the history back to Winnipeg.

Pretty sure I heard on one of the PHNX podcasts earlier this summer that if there is a new Phoenix team, they would get the former Coyotes history but the Jets history was open for discussion if and when the time comes. Although I don't see any reason why that discussion needs to wait the years a new team coming to fruition will take.

First time I went there was 1981 or so, as a 12 year old. My only arena experience was the old London Gardens (hadn't been to an NHL game by then) and I thought the Metro Centre was the greatest thing. Not sure what games I saw there, I had in my mind it was the Oilers, but in looking their history up, that was a later trip as they didn't exist then.
