Kornbread....I would say that they are a bit above White Castle or Waffle House but not quite the Hilton.

Bombay Bike Club opened a few days ago at the Hemisfair District (what an exciting name! Soon there will be an Alamo District, a UTSA District, a Skyscraper District, a Spurs District...) Here are their menu prices for those curious.

It's the same name as the original Bombay Bicycle Club on St. Mary's street at the edge of the Polo Field that has been there for over 40 years.

Thanks!

Anyway, that and there are plans for "Fatheads Pizza" to open in the former Kimura ramen shop across from the Greyhound. Frankly I would kill for a Chinese restaurant to open at the former Bill Millers right there across. It's surprisingly difficult to find a decent affordable lunch spot downtown (Amigos across the Main Plaza is good for a snack though, hot dog and chips). Rivercenter Mall arguably has the worst food court in the city. Honestly, they need to just bullzone all of the 80s portion and build something new. AMC Theaters is a dump just like the bathrooms...

A lot of new developments downtown!

-Holey Moley, a golf themed restaurant with karaoke rooms and putt putt, is replacing Landshark at the Rivercenter Mall. Also replacing the entire food court is Mexico Ceaty, which will feature a cafe, street tacos, churros, cevicheria (not sure what that entails lol) and live music among other things.
-Chauma Gaucho, a Brazilian steakhouse, will take over the vacant space across from the Majestic Theater between Bohanans and the Gunter Hotel. Speaking of them, a new French bakery has posters put up in the former Market on Houston.
-Luz Rojas Tex Mex is also a new restaurant opening up in the former Blanco Cafe on Saint Mary’s, a lot of work done inside. The new Blanco Cafe next to 7/11 still hasn’t opened despite a Summer 2024 poster.
-Leo’s Hideout is a new diner-style pizza place behind Chick fil a on Soledad. Highly recommend! Also Candy’s Old Fashioned Burgers has moved from their spot off Flores to the former Fratellos behind City Hall.
-The space for the Rio Rio Cantina is being actively renovated but no word on a new tenant (would it hurt to have a Chinese buffet?)

Great things are happening! The days of dead downtown and COVID are behind us.
