ABIA posted their proposed Lounge plans for when the new terminal and A/D Hall comes online

https://services.austintexas.gov/edi....cfm?id=440555

Commentary: https://viewfromthewing.com/exclusiv...new-operators/

AA will move their Admirals Club to the new West Wing expansion. The new terminal connector buildings will have two large lounges, one in terminal A and one in the new terminal B. Looks like Delta will take the new 30,000 sqft lounge in the Barbara Jordan terminal, which aligns with rumors I've heard. I assume United will either stay in their current location and (maybe?) expand into the old AA space, or they'll move to part of the new lounge location in terminal B. Lot's of space for Credit Card lounges - I've heard Chase and Amex names floated so will be interesting to see

Finally a new Admirals Club. They (AA) have been promising for years. !

Darn, the Chase lounge is closing March 2025?! Do we know if there are any plans for them to have a lounge in the meantime?

Interesting. Delta taking a ~28k or ~30k SF for a lounge!?! If so, it will be one of the largest lounges in their system. And, they wouldn't do that if there were not plans to expand their presence at ABIA.

We'll see...

If Delta takes the 30k space then it will be interesting who takes the 28k in Concourse B. 28k seems a bit big for United and Southwest does not have lounges (yet). I also wonder if British might establish a lounge. The begin 13x weekly flights in 2025.

I think the Concourse B lounge will be all Delta AND they keep their current Skyclub for terminal A operations and the SkyTeam widebody partners.

I think Delta is going to big team here. Last rumor I heard was they are taking all of the new 20 gates or 15/20.

We will see. Taking 15-20 gates is plausible. But, it does not have to be out in Concourse B.

It would make more sense, if Delta were to establish a hub (small) at ABIA, that they take BJT gates and move those airlines out to the new Concourse B. If you are the largest airline at the airport, why make your customers walk all the way out to Concourse B from the new A/D building? Plus, the 30k lounge (w/ outdoor terraces) sounds more like Delta.

The current SkyClub, I bet, will become some sort of international travel-focused common use lounge.

In any case, roughly 110,000 SF of lounge space (spread over 5-6 lounges) is huge.

I'm not sure why Delta out it's gates out in Concourse B at SLC. It really doesn't make much sense.

An interesting points - Delta's current largest club is the Delta One club at JFK. It spans 39,000 SF (or roughly 30% bigger than the possible one at ABIA). LAX's has a SkyClub that is 30k SF. SLC has a new one that is 28,000 SF. Their largest one at ATL is 25k SF. Boston, Minneapolis and Seattle come in at 21,000 SF.

This is interesting. Might start watching Frontier and Allegiant as Spirit filed for bankruptcy this week

Unfortunately, Hawaiian will be ceasing its AUS-HNL route in March 2025. I had a feeling this might be coming when Alaskan bought the airline (which closed in September).

Load factors on this flight are pretty good. So, I'm hopeful it might return after their restructuring settles down.

Hawaiian ceases, and Delta keeps adding

Austin to Jacksonville is one of the stronger indicators yet of what's coming.

Interesting...the airport spokesperson stated that by the end of the first half of 2025, Delta will be the airport's second largest carrier and that American (who currently holds that spot) will fall to #3. I wonder if they will hold there or will United take that spot eventually?

As Alaska and JetBlue grow (or potentially merge in the future), I wouldn't be surprised if Austin eventually became a future hub for them.

Yeah. Unfortunately, I don't see a Turkey or Middle Eastern route anytime soon. Both are served frequently from DFW and IAH.

I think the next big international announcement will be for a route to Seoul, Tokyo or Paris. It will be interesting to see if AUS begins any South American routes (specifically to one or more of the business centers of Buenos Aires, Santiago or São Paulo.
