I disagree. Any tourist or commercial traffic going from the TCH corridor to Penticton, Osoyoos or other place other than Kelowna or West Kelowna should have a way to skip the city and not add to the brutal traffic on Harvey. Locals don't need it, but anyone not stopping in the 2 cities does.

Kelowna doesn't need a bypass, it needs more lanes connecting to West Kelowna. Since there's only room for one more lane on the current bridge, another bridge is needed.

There's also a need for more lanes connecting to Rutland, but widening Harvey is not possible, so building the Clement extension is the best option.

There's no need for a bypass of West Kelowna, there is rarely congestion through downtown Westbank and beyond, intersections between downtown Westbank and the bridge can be upgraded to interchanges when needed.

The best way to solve congestion would be some sort of rapid transit, probably dedicated bus lanes to start with, but that would require a new bridge as well.

So whether you're approaching it from a car focused standpoint or a transit standpoint, either way a new bridge is needed.

Here's an imagine from this morning. They did reduce the parking from 4 levels below grade to only 2. Still no parking above grade.

Great pic, thank you. It's a shame this project loses 2 stories of underground parking. Missed opportunity to showcase what is possible. I'm guessing the project has been delayed a lot? Doesn't seem like much work has been completed since a few months ago.

Only one more tower is in stream at the moment for downtown and it is the 40 storey rental tower adjacent to UBCO. That one is 117m tall.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about 150m+ anytime soon. Several members of council are anti-towers and don't even like the current bylaw permitting up to 40 storeys.
