Getting it all the way to Longwoods is a bonus too, but that gets tricky as it would cross the city limit. You'd need the country to agree to this.

If done, it would make Bradley(/Pack) another continuous road that goes all the way through the city limits. Not many currently do that.
I haven't heard about this plan for a long time, but I remember it being shown in the Vision '96 plan along with the Bradley extension west of White Oak, the Oxford west extension (completed in 2003), and the so-called Ring Road.

Now that I think about it some more, I believe this plan came up again 12-13 years ago when the city was discussing the Southwest London plan, but there were concerns about potential harms to Lambeth as it would effectively have been a bypass for the community. So perhaps the plan was killed off back then.

Council approved this. One step closer to finally seeing the extension constructed.

Looks like construction on the extension has been slightly deferred.

The project page was updated today and it now says that construction will start in 2024.

Disappointing but not surprised. Nearly mid June and haven't seen a shovel in-ground by either end of Bradley. Would be a lot for 2km of new road & underground utilities to be laid down at this point in construction season.

City road construction site has given a revised timeline for this project:

Construction is anticipated to start in spring 2024 and last until approximately fall 2025.

- Phase 1: Bradley Ave from Wharncliffe Rd to White Oak, planned for construction in spring 2024
- Phase 2: Bradley Ave from White Oak to Jalna Blvd (West leg) planned for construction in 2025

The project page was updated today and it looks like construction will be deferred for the second time, with construction now starting in 2025

Kinda sour about this, but thanks for sharing.

Between Wonderland and Wharncliffe, Bradley is a great 4 lane road that pretty much no one uses. This already built infrastructure will be wasted for another year while the left turn queue at White Oak and Southdale just gets longer and longer...

Very unfortunate, this stretch was needed 5+ years ago I never understood why it was not done before Southdale to be honest.

The current new stretch is great, if every major road could be set up that way it would be great.

Easy enough to cut through the Bateman neighbourhood and come out on Wharncliffe at Teppermans. Saves a couple sucky lefts.

Has there been any rational given for delaying another year this time?

The rationale is our city is broke. BRT has gone way over budget and no even close to opening, but has to be completed for the senior government $ and is costing London tons. Literally every infrastructure project non-BRT related is being delayed or taking much longer to complete because other special interest get priority.

This section of Bradley was suppose to be started in 2022, and now 2025 apparently. Wharncliffe CN has been delayed over 5 years with not start date, Oxford Wharncliffe in 2026 has been kicked down the road with no alternate date.

With the pandemic, inflation, supply and worker shortages, it would have been nice if the senior levels relaxed their rules/dates a bit. Say maybe by New Years Day 2030?

A new road build like Bradley seems relatively simple compared to the other projects in the city and would give the area a huge benefit for little cost. I understand the frustration and I know posting on a internet forum won't do anything to fix it, but gah this —.

Southdale west of Boler was supposed to be done a couple years ago, I don't even know where it sits on the schedule now. Same as Highbury south of Hamilton.

Just take Southdale or Exeter. I know not really anyone is a transit rider on
here, but I can’t wait for BRT to come online. If it makes me a special interest, count me in.

Ya I still can't believe Exeter is 80km/h towards Wonderland. The intersection at White Oak can be improved however to help with traffic flow. Southdale was widened not long ago but still has a backup between Wharncliffe and White Oak.

Extending Bradley and ultimately hooking it up with Pack would help distribute traffic in a fast growing part of town.

I'm excited for BRT too- just not happy the full route was not approved... it doesn't really go many places to be super useful but it's a start for sure. Just — about the cost overruns deferring or cancelling projects like the Bradley Ave extension.

You think you're pissed? I've been hearing about this damn Bradley extension for a while, I live in the area. They even at one point handed out flyers letting everyone know about the work.

I would love to see roundabouts for the Exeter/Wharncliffe/Wonderland Triangle. That would improve traffic greatley around that area. I think Exeter is fine at 80km/h, I think London needs more of that on main roads. I notice driving in Mississauga, most main roads are around 70 or 80 there.

But also, I find that Londoners just drive really, really slow between Wharncliffe and White Oak Road on Southdale, both ways. Like people are struggling to accelerate. There are a lot of spots like that and I just don't understand it. Like Wharncliffe between Baseline and Commissioners/Highview Ave, Or Wellington between Exeter and Bradley. The speeds are 60km/h, and yet people are going almost half that.

I get annoyed because I miss many lights due to people slowly accelerating.

At last, construction on the Bradley Avenue extension is finally set to begin next year. It was scheduled to start in 2023 for several years, then pushed to 2024 last year, and then pushed to 2025 this year.

The city is hosting a virtual public meeting on October 30th (as well as an in-person one on November 7th) which will show detailed designs of the planned road improvements, as well as plans for construction.

2 decades in the making, Bradley Avenue extension to support south London growth

The city is going ahead with plans to build a new four-lane road to fill an existing gap on Bradley Avenue from Wharncliffe Road South in the west through to White Oaks Road. The section from White Oaks Road to Jalna Boulevard will be upgraded from two lanes to four. (CBC News Graphics)

They should make this a 2 phase project with phase 2 immediately following completion of the White Oaks to Wharncliffe by connecting west of Wonderland and joining to Pack Rd. Thus providing a badly needed complete east to west route across the south end of the city. I know that last link is in the plans but I think it's for next decade, it should be done right after this first part is done.
