6C and sunny this afternoon. Chilly.

An absolutely HISTORIC dryness. The dewpoint dropped down to -15.4C this afternoon, shattering the October all-time low record of -13.3C from 1974. We broke the monthly record by 2.1C... which is absolute madness.

Extremely dry air in southern #Quebec & eastern #Ontario.

Dew point of -16.2°C in #Ottawa, new monthly record breaking — by far — the previous record of -13.3°C set in 1974.

-15.4°C in #Montreal, monthly record as well, breaking the previous record of -13.3°C also set in 1974.

Low of -4C (wind chill of -5) this morning. This is very cold for late October. The daily record is -6.7C (it officially fell to -4.7C). Not surprising because of the dryness.

The warmspot was Deerwood, MB at 18.0C

Warmest low was Sand Heads, BC at 9.9C.

Just a comparison, had the opposite happened in August, Montreal would have had a dewpoint of 28.9C.

It's a chilly -5C in Labrador. I see St. John's froze. I'm just looking longing at the sun in my security cam lol

At least the food up here is good.

Cold places need comfort food. You need good food to replace all those kCals you burn off trying to stay warm.

Indeed we officially froze overnight. Woke up to a thick layer of frost on everything; had to scrape the car for the first time before headed to work. Going to be a cool few days, highs near 6 degrees.

6C sounds wonderful right now lol

Also, Atlantic time is an awful adjustment. And half the people do things here a half hour earlier to align with NL time (ie here an office worker might work 7:30-3:30 to align with colleagues in town working 8-4), while the other half doesn't. Restaurant might switch to lunch menu at 10:30, might be 11 lol. Even a local Labradorians was 30 minutes late to a meeting this morning assuming it was Atlantic time, and a coworker's taxi showed up 30 minutes early despite her stressing Labrador time lol

And personally, this is worse than a proper 3-4 hour jet lag. It's close enough to be annoying lol I'm famished by 10:30 am, the entire afternoon at work feels absolutely endless.

Very early end of the freeze list. We normally have a few places (non BC) that are still going into early November.
Despite the common misconception, it's the first time one of the 2 BC cities will win in at least 5 years.

+4C and overcast in Moncton at 8 AM, with showers expected later and a high temperature of +10C

A warm up tomorrow. The high will be 20C and mainly cloudy. Very pleasant weather for the Trick or Treaters.

Was +7°C and partly cloudy at 9AM this morning, here in Saint John, NB.

Halloween used to be around the usual time we'd expect the first snowfall out west when I was a kid.

Fall and in the maritimes is truly a gift... that prolonged, distinct autumn season is probably my favourite thing about the climate in the maritimes. The chill yesterday morning killed most of our flours, but half the leaves on our maple trees are still green.

January and February can be really brutal, with the Nor'easters, but I still find winter here to be pretty pleasant compared to winter back on the prairies.

Sun, cloud, and some showers, and 4 degrees at 10am.

Looks like it snowed up here at elevation near the airport overnight. A bit of snow on the windshields of cars on the used car lot near my office. Nothing down where I live though.

18 going up to 21. One last blast of summer.

Calls for highs of 21 tomorrow as well for Halloween. Will be great for the kids if it comes true. That is, if the projected rain holds off.

A humidex reading on October 30th is quite novel. Currently 21 with a humidex of 26. A bit gusty as well, so a lot of leaves are being blown off trees. Overnight low of just 15 tonight, then a high of 22 for Halloween tomorrow.

It actually warmed up through the night last night - our overnight low came right around midnight at 13 degrees.

KLM messed up my flight back home, so I'm currently in Reykjavik, Iceland. It's surprisingly not too cold at 6c.

Great Fall shots.

Looking ahead I don't see an overnight temps close to freezing in Vancouver through mid-November.

Looks like she significant snowfall for southern Labrador on Friday when I fly home. I don't think/know it affects where I am on the shores of Lake Melville but whatever.

I'm in awe people live like this. Stood for 10 minutes on the siddwalk-less main street waiting for a car to stop to let me cross, right in front of a healthcare facility. I've seen people get in their cars to drive he length of themselves to a gas station Superette and back again. Literally a 30-second walk.

The people are nice, though. And it's fascinating to be among Indigenous people. I feel so out of place and self-conscious about it lol
