75 Consumers Drive is for sale with the potential for new development on the excess land right next to East Side Mario's. There is mention of a strong interest from a national fast-casual restaurant chain to locate here.

Any guesses as to what that would be? In and around that area there is Boston Pizza, St Louis, Montana's, East Side, Swiss Chalet. Struggling to think of other restaurants that fit that bill that SJ doesn't have? Maybe a Moxie's?

Seems like the kind of location Jack Astor's would set up.

Denny’s?

Five Guys isn’t fast causal… but think one would make a killing at that location.

Maybe Kelsey's?

So options could be:

Kelsey's
Jack Astor's
Moxie's
Milestone's

“Tenant fit up” permits are now registered for The Vintage Patch at 87 Lansdowne Avenue, (Lansdowne Plaza), in the north end.

There's a Milestones in Moncton.

For this particular spot in SJ, I would wonder about Moxies or Kelseys,

Yes, I meant there is only one existing location in NB (Moncton) Sorry if it wasn't clear.

I'd agree something like Moxies would be a welcome addition to SJ. I've had lunch at the one in Moncton a few times and enjoyed it.

New No Frills Store Coming Soon

New permits have popped up on the permits database for 212 McAllister Drive, (Parkway Mall).

“Interior Fit Up for No Frills” was registered a while ago and “Install New Neon Sign For No Frills”, has just popped up.

So that officially confirms that No Frills is coming soon to the east side.

Looks like both Ears 4 You and Kerr Optical inside Lancaster Mall is moving. The mall is changing to more of a strip mall type of format.

• Ears 4 You is moving to Parkway Mall on the east side.

• Kerr Optical announced they are moving to the ground floor of the new apartment building down the street at 25 Aquarius Court. (Near Sobeys, west).

Not surprising. I've been told by a Superstore manager that the new Loblaw's CEO (Pers Bank) is really keen on growing the discount end of the business.

Bad news for anybody who enjoys food/cooking and being able to access a variety of quality products.

Canadian Tire East has undergone extensive renovations/refresh. The last update to the store was approx 10 years ago and was more of a soft refresh. While the store has not expanded its footprint (it is already a large size & proper class for a store in this region), it has completely renovated the interior with a great new floor plan and much improved access and flow. The exterior and parking lot of the store has also gotten a facelift. The new owner is very keen on customer service and engagement. They are planning a grand reopening for Nov 7-10 with special sales and prizes etc.

From my experience in Denmark, the stores that he worked for are dreadful; and would be considered low end quality in Canada. Unfortunately.

Yep. Don't get me started on the food desert that is grocery store shopping in New Brunswick.

Our Superstore in Millidgeville has certainly gone downhill in terms of quality and selection. Big stacks of yellow box no name stuff everywhere, multiple examples of brands no longer carried or reduced variety........ and don't get me started on "ungraded Mexican beef"

Lancaster Mall Rebranded

Lancaster Mall will now officially be known as Lancaster Crossing.

“Salthill Property Management, which manages the centre, announced the name change this week.

“We are very excited to announce the rebranding of our shopping centre,” Ben Creesman, director of asset management, said in a news release.

“Lancaster Mall has been providing essential services to the Saint John community over the past several years, and we aim to build on this as we add more and improved services to our community.”

The company said the change comes with the introduction of several new tenants to the centre, including Stacked Pancake House, NPA Auto and Wee Wild Ones Day Care.

It is anchored by a 103,000-square-foot Walmart, the Saint John Free Public Library and a 36,000-square-foot No Frills.

Salthill also manages the Fairville Crossing commercial centre across the street, which includes a Starbucks and A&W restaurant”.

What's going in the 'leased' 1A3? And, could the mall fit another pad site across from Jungle Jim's/Shoppers?
