Been at least 8 years since I waded the Credit. But that's where I learned the trade. The Credit and its tribs in Caledon, Brampton and Mississauga. Well, there and the Etobicoke Creek. Now you got me wondering if I should make another run up the river. Maybe Bronte instead of Sixteen Mile. Man, if I had time I'd venture farther out but time is at a premium.
Yeah fair enough. Yes, I as well learned from there. Although it's not on my list any time soon, I'm going to try and wade the Don once they finish rebuilding the lower valley trails next to the DVP, near Queen/Bloor.
I'm also going to make a little event next year that requires visitors to wade the Credit (It's geocaching, they'll do it) to attend, and we'll see if anyone takes the easier route. It'll be set up on one of the river islands you can find on the Credit, this one being under Burnamthorpe, by Riverwood.

Yeah, Bronte would be nice. I'd love to do a trip there this time of year.

I've never set foot in the Don. One day I will have to make it out that way, but preferably off the beaten path where there's almost no one else. And some tribs. I recall that it was newsworthy when salmon were seen in the tribs of the Don as far north as Richmond Hill. The effort to clean up that river paid off.

The best salmon run I know of around here are in Bowmanville Creek and the Ganaraska in Port Hope. It's not the red coloured sockeye salmon runs in BC but still a sight to behold.

9C and mainly cloudy. It is 5C and rainy right now. I am impressed by how cold it is.

Low of 3C this morning. Coldest morning yet.

The warmspot was Milk River, AB at 24.7C.

Warmest low was Sable Island, NS at 12.9C.

Holy cow, that's a lot of fish! Jesus. That looks like a very enjoyable venture and place to sight see.

3C and mostly cloudy in Moncton at 8 AM, only getting as warm as 7C this afternoon. It will cloud over with showers this afternoon, lasting overnight, which may protect Moncton from entering the freeze list. The overnight low is expected to be +1C. Other locations in eastern Canada seem to be at greater risk.

Both MTL and QC are along the St Lawrence river which moderates the temperatures a bit. Montreal has the extra moderation from being an island.

Urban heat island also matters but the rural station of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue coldest so far is 2.6C while the off island but much more urban station of St-Hubert coldest is 3.0C. So the island itself has the same impact as UHI.
Sherbrooke also has an average elevation that is quite a bit higher than either Montreal or Quebec City.

One would expect Quebec City which is quite a bit further north than Sherbrooke to be colder but the winter lows in Sherbrooke are generally slightly lower than in La Vieille Capitale (or Le Gros Village ).

The record lows for Sherbrooke are generally about 5-6 degrees colder than in Quebec City.

Sherbrooke has two months with record lows below -40. Quebec City has never gone below -40 I don't think. At least not according to weather records.

Yep. Potential for all of Southern Ontario to drop tonight. I see EC has Toronto dropping to +1 and TWN -1, which is interesting as usually TWN predicts the warmer lows.

Very cute.

@giallo – I'm surprised so many people in Paris were wearing puffy jackets at 20 degrees. Was it chilly in the morning or something?

Today was 10C in Mississauga, and partly cloudy. 1C tonight (!)
Today was busy for me, as I headed to downtown (Toronto), finally taking a GO train from my old home to Toronto. After, I headed to Square One in Mississauga, running errands and seeing a friend, this was taken right beside the mall.

10C and a mix of sun and clouds. Very cold conditions... cleared up right before sunset and the wind is calm. Perfect conditions for cold temperatures.

Low of 5C this morning.

The warmspot was Moose Jaw, SK at 24.8C

Warmest low Creston, BC at 10.4C

Absolutely hilarious, YUL officially has a trace of snow yesterday despite not receiving a single flake.
According to the weather station, YUL reported ice pellets with the temperature being over 7C. Hard to believe this would be true. Seems way too warm for ice pellets, I would let experts comment on whether that is possible.

The airport recorded 9 minutes of ice pellets with a temperature of +7.4°C. Ice Pellets count as "snow" according to the rules published by Environment Canada.

There might be great carnage in eastern Canada tonight as far as the freeze list is concerned. Four, five and possibly six cities could fall.

I am gravely concerned Moncton will be one of them. The skies cleared earlier than expected this evening, and the temperature is now +1.7C at midnight, a drop of 1.2C in the last hour. The dew point is +0.1C (and falling).

Stellar photos from everyone the past couple pages! Too many to call out, but a nice variety from Toronto city creeks to St. John’s, mcminsen holding the Vancouver fort and giallo’s Excellent European adventure (ok, a few call outs). Jeez giallo - now adding the Alps and up close portraits to your repertoire!

Beautiful fall day. Sunny and mild through most of the day and then we had a little shower late in the afternoon.
Even had a bit of thunder, which is rare.

Wednesday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 14 C, the low was 9 C.

We escaped frost this morning, the low was 3.2 at 1:43 am. It actually warmed up to 5.1 before dropping back to 3.6 a few minutes ago. We should be safe well into November now.

Cool early morning bike ride around the freezing mark in Gatineau this morning.

But beautiful sun and warm clothes made it very pleasant.
