I don't remember that being in the specification or even discussed before. I would wager that this means open gangways between the two cars of each married pair rather than for whole trains. Nevertheless, this seems a promising surprise.

They look extremely promising. Let's hope the renderings are mostly realistic. At least it seems they are being ambitious design-wise. The way the pantograph gates are rendered as appearing less than two feet tall does give me pause though.

The trains themselves look great. However:
1. Why is it going to take SOOOOO LOOOOONNNGGG to deliver them?
2. Why do they insist on front-facing seats? you can fit more standees if all the seats are along the sides.

Is the system that crowded that they can't provide enough frequency and need to maximizing standing space?

Wow. What an improvement.

Look like the subway cars on the Paris Metro, if you ask me.

I too hate the front facing seats...feels like they're holding onto a vestige of Septa's past...but if it's just the center portion of each car, it will still feel much more accommodating if you walk in and you're in the standing area with open gangways into the next car on your left or right.

The subways look great. Best looking subway train in the Americas so far.

The trolleys are definitely a huge upgrade, but they're Toronto's new streetcars, first rolled out 10 years ago, with smaller windows in frames rather than having a glass curtain wall.

SEPTA to explore increasing service for new 76ers arena.
Summary: the arena proposal targets 40% of gameday spectators to use public transit. To reach this goal, SEPTA would have to increase service on all modes (regional rail, buses, and MFL), though no specific plans on how to do this. The 76ers want to include a free SEPTA pass with each ticket to encourage using transit, which would require sponsorships.

More funding for SEPTA unlikely this year thanks to deep conflicts over gaming expansion

Transit agencies in neighboring states have faced similar funding challenges. New Jersey recently approved a new tax on corporate profits to fill its commuter rail agency’s shortfall.

New York City’s transit agency is facing budget woes after Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul axed a plan to tax drivers entering the city during periods of heavy traffic. While Hochul promised to fill in the $1 billion hole her decision created, legislators ended their session without a deal to do so.

Now, Pennsylvania’s legislators are poised to do the same.

We're cooked. My train, the chestnut hill west line, is the first to be on the chopping block. We still have the east line but very disappointing that politics is now affecting service. The 2030 map, if no addition funding is provided, is absolutely dismal.
