Good improvements on the block of Sydney between St. Andrews and St. James, following this summer's road and sidewalk reconstruction. https://imgur.com/a/2uZEwX2

Triplex apartment at 180 Sydney seems mostly framed. Main floor blocked in to discourage nocturnal tourism, but I assure you it will have windows.

192 Sydney is totally gutted and has some nice new windows. Given their carelessness with the white vinyl, I assume it will be re-clad in something nicer.

Next year's street reconstruction plans:

-Canterbury between Princess and Duke
-Sydney between Broad and St James
-Charlotte between St James and Queen Sq N (why not just go all the way to Duke?)

Lighter than previous years.

Do you mean Canterbury between Princess and Duke or Queen? Sydney never crosses Canterbury since they run parallel.

Per LinkedIn, Asimakos confirms construction of the 39-unit affordably Barrack Green project is eminent; a construction trailer is now on-site.

The old church in the back is going to be really close to the project. Not a fire issue?

Picture from Saltwire:

What the project will look like from the Telegraph Journal:

Looks like a project update and funding announcement on the Sydney Street Courthouse project, the future home of the Atlantic Repertory Company is coming up next week [Oct 29th]. Would love to see this break ground this winter, along with the project at the top of King St. we will really see a shot in the arm for the King Square area over the next couple of years!

After that we can move on getting something new built where the Paramount Theatre used to be a few years ago, and maybe an improvement to the IOL building on the corner of Sydney and King Square North.

What sort of "improvements" do you see as being needed for the Irving Oil building?

It's pretty bad as-is, and is it even occupied right now? Every time I walk past it seems pretty dead and is a huge wasted opportunity on the square.

I don't get your post. AFAIK it's occupied enough that the Golden Ball is being used for overflow, which was not IOL's intent when building the new HQ. What kind of improvements could even be done? They certainly wouldn't convert the ground floor to retail, and there's no demand anyway.

Vacant 38-40 Sydney across the street, the RBC building at 83-85 Charlotte and the lot beside it, the Paramount site, and the old Dominion store at 59 King Sq N contribute far more to the dead nature of the area than the Beatty-Imperial-IOL block.

I think darkharbour is referring to the IOL-owned former Dominion store, as their post specified King Square North. The Home Office building is on King Square South.

^This. I was referring to the building at 59 King Square North.

The old Eider Rock/Dominion building and the vacant land where the King Sq Cinemas/Paramount was would make a good spot for something for sure.

It's about 31,000 square feet between the 4 PIDs at 29 Sydney, 25 King Sq N, 47 King Sq N, and 59 King Sq N. A little larger than the IOL HQ footprint... but owned by three different parties I believe. Would be a great site for an extended-stay hotel, which uptown sorely lacks. Or even a mixed hotel/apartment building.

I'd love to see something done with the lots at 87 and 95 Charlotte too. You could easily go wall-to-wall with the RBC building's blank southern facade. Assuming access to parking in behind was maintained, you could still work with an 8,000 square foot area. What's underneath here, anyway?
