It's nice enough. Not great.

Where was this third photo shot, from a vantage point above Big Lake? I never thought there was high ground above the lake like this around St. Albert.

12C and mainly cloudy this afternoon. More sun early on. We have gone to full on mid autumn mode. To be expected after such a prolonged stretch of beautiful weather.

Low of 6C this morning.

The warmspot was Estevan, SK at 28.6C.

Warmest low was Lytton, BC at 13.2C

Rain, wind, and 12 degrees at just before 10am. Had some very heavy rain and thunderstorms overnight. Weather appears to be around seasonal for the next week, doesn't appear to be a major risk for freezing (yet).

We reached Oct. 22 last year. The forecast low for tomorrow night is 1, so if it's clear, it could be close. After that, it looks like we're probably in the clear until at least late next week.

We've got a great Thanksgiving weekend coming up. 14 tomorrow, then 17, 25, 25 all with full sun. I'd been trying to rally my family around a Thanksgiving camping trip for months and could not convince any of them. It's too bad; it would have been a perfect weekend.

The warm Thanksgiving weekend forecast is spread Alberta-wide for the most part and Medicine Hat even has a 30 in there for Monday.

Im hoping for clear tonight and tomorrow. With the latest solar storm the Aurora tonight should be spectacular. As for the warm air in Alberta. My garden is still blooming. Plants that are normally long dead are still up. Even my double flowering Lilac is still producing.

Yesterday was the first rainy day of our trip to Newfoundland. The day before was nice and sunny, so we hiked at Gros Morne

This weekend will not be peak leafer season in Gatineau park. I'd give it another week.

From just outside St. John's in Flatrock. Exceedingly rare for lights this bright here.

^ Likewise. Never seen the Northern Lights in my life until tonight.

I don't have or use a tripod so this is what my phone whipped out in night mode. Hard to keep a steady hand.

Lots of northern lights in Moncton too.

What impressed me the most was just how high in the sky they were. Instead of being a thin line on the northern horizon, they were directly overhead! The best display I've seen since Edmonton in 1984.

Not my picture, but, as seen from YQM earlier this evening.

I drove out to some rural roads just north of the city with my middle son to have a look. Even the little side roads were packed with cars full of people trying to catch the display. It was a damned nuisance having all the cars driving by with their headlights on. I finally found a spot on Catamount Road that was quiet.
