When you're using precast concrete/metal paneling, how hard is it to just choose a color palate that isn't atrocious? This, the View, the Standard... their massings are fine but their colors just clash in the worst of ways.

Is it me, or is this generation of student focused towers in U City worse than than the previous batch from ~2016-2019?
The Mark in its current state looks like modern public housing, tiny windows and all.
Why do we continue to settle for this? Why do we allow developers to continue to propose one thing to CDR and then build another?
Even if it's non-binding, it's still disingenuous.
@jackphillyre (previously worked for Naked Philly) posted new renderings of the Mark. I'm not sure where they came from, but that blue is apparently now included. There's also way less steps of color gradiation. Now every six floors instead of every 3 floors, going to be way less subtle
I understand these initial reactions, but I think we should really wait until this thing is fully constructed and clad, with all windows and details installed, before we judge it. So far, I don't see any deviation from the renderings, and sometimes the total finished product looks better than the individual elements. Of course, it also may still suck.
Do developers purposefully skimp/cheap out just because it's going to be catered to student populations and thus probably slightly cheaper rent than market rate? (This one, the Standard for example)

If you compare the recent pictures to the renderings on page 1 of this thread, there are some obvious value engineering differences. Notably, less windows and smaller windows and a change in façade color.
I wasn't expecting a winner, but so far this looks not good.
