Yep, Calgary dropped to 0.9C this morning. Very close!

Warm this morning, already up to 22 degrees. Cooler weather is really coming up next week, but I'll be in Newfoundland. St. John's this weekend, then heading west to visit friends near Gros Morne

I think Edmonton will be safe from freezing for at least the next week based on the EC forecast. My guess is we wil freeze sometime during the week of Thanksgiving, which is around a week earlier than last year and still way later than our average.

Fall gardening is done. Things are moved where I want them. All the twigs are mulched. Lawn is mowed. Neightbour passed me a beer and I'm not doing another Jesus thing to this back yard until Spring.

It may be narrow, but it is a little urban oasis in downtown St. Johns. If I had your house, I would be out there all the time.

I also was in my back yard today too, putting everything away for the fall. I still have to cut my grass. I'll do half of it later this afternoon and the other half tomorrow. And, then there are the God damned leaves. I must have 60-80 trees on my property (mostly maple trees), and, it is always a struggle when the leaves start to fall. I love my leaf blower though. Most of my yard I have kept "natural", and, for the most part, I just blow the leaves into the natural parts to serve as mulch for the next year.

It's fine with a crowd, but if it's just me, I usually sit on the front step. There's always at least one neighbour will join or wave you over to their step.

When I eat outside, though, always on the back. Don't want people watching me embarrass myself shoveling it all in lol

AND now I'm done weedwhacking the front of mine and the neighbours who I've asked or asked me (five houses total, lol!)

Looks like a stretch of warm weather. hope it last through the month now. Just book at Hotel in Jasper NP for the end of the month. Dark Sky time. And also to support the community. But was reading an article from a well known mountain biker. Describing what we'll see now. The area south of JPL is definitely burnt out. Valley of the 5 peaks trail used to be heavy tree cover which is all gone now. He commented that there are so many new vistas to see. Yes it will be different but we'll see new scenes and watch the forest regenrate.

It was foggy early today in Montreal but it burned off by mid-morning and became gloriously sunny. The forecast looks great until Monday — definitely a "fin de belle saison" kind of vibe as real autumn weather kicks in next week.

12 degrees with 99% humidity at 8am...

By noon it was 17 degres with 67% humidity. It quickly went up to 20 after that. I'm dog-sitting at the moment so we went for a walk over Mount Royal. Still pretty green; the maples are just starting to turn. There's more colour on the streets from ash trees and honey locusts, but those aren't common on the mountain.

And since we're on the topic of backyards, I'm enjoying the last few days where I can have my indoors plants outside.

Hard to top that backyard.

20C and sunny today. Absolutely beauty of an October day. From morning to evening.

Low of 10C this morning. I woke up at 8 and the fog was just lifting. By 8:30 it was already full sunshine.

The warmspot was Sarnia, ON at 24.2C.

Warmest low was Port Colborne, ON at 15.8C.

The Kelowna airport froze this morning (nearby UBC did not).

The first two weeks of October is pretty normal for the Kelowna airport to have its first frost.

Kamloops, Osoyoos, Ashcroft, etc… are still holding on.

The window Bird feeder is good. Also keeps birds from striking the window. We've got a feeder just below the eaves. Filled with cracked sunflower seeds. Nuthatches , Chickadees and sparrows are common. but occasionally get House finches, Yellow warblers, Blue Jays and Flickers. Also Squirrels and mice. The Squirrels know to not get in the feeder if the birds are there. Some pretty good turf wars.

Long range weather looks good for another week. Still no freezing.

Cultivated my Grape Crop this week Will be lots of Jam this weekend.
