My expectation for 2024-2029 are as follows,

1. National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) 2
2. National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT)
3. Research & Educational Institute associated with Green Hydrogen including Centre of Excellence in Green Hydrogen (CoE-GH)
4. Establisment at least three renouned private institutes including Adani University.

These four are main expectations. Along with these things continued effort to establish IIPE is needed.

Other needs, which can also be considered, are already listed in various earlier posts. On industries, Medical Devices Park.

I also expect support & effort to establishment of AIIMS in Kasaragod by all three Tulunadu MPs.

Hope also DK MP will be able to bring either CSIR-NCL or CSIR-IICT to Mangaluru within next five years as Mangaluru is getting filled with chemical industries.

A feasibility report for the whole project is being prepared by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.

The Tourism Department is planning to develop heli-tourism packages and offshore activities to support the new port.

2 lakh IT jobs target for Mangaluru by 2033

The series aimed to create opportunities and envision the region’s future by 2033. It began with a keynote speech by a prominent industry figure, followed by panel discussions featuring leading industry representatives. These discussions focused on strategies to elevate Mangaluru’s status as a global technology hub.

Bhat emphasised the significant impact of IT industries on the coastal district’s economy, stating, “While MRPL, with 2,550 employees, gives out Rs 698 crore of salary with Rs 1,24,686 revenue, the IT industries here generate Rs 3,000 crore revenue and Rs 1,800 crore going as salary. The IT industries here in the coastal district make a bigger impact on the economy. Therefore, these industries need to be supported. Our aim is to contribute at least 10% of Karnataka’s GDP in another ten years.”

TiE Mangaluru, which promotes IT growth in coastal Karnataka, focuses on three factors: future, nature, and culture. “When we are planning to expand the IT ecosystem in the future, we also focus on nature and culture. Future refers to satellite offices, large IT company offices, and startups. Nature refers to more eco-buildings, reducing carbon footprint, and preserving the local culture, which has a rich heritage,” said Bhat, adding that Mangaluru is considered one of the 15-minute cities.

MRPL (Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited) is set to produce 500 tonnes of Green Hydrogen annually by 2026, as Mangaluru has been identified as a green hydrogen cluster. ...

Interest in green hydrogen was particularly evident at the 'Invest Karnataka 2022' investors' conference in Bengaluru, where nine proposals worth Rs 2.86 lakh crore were accepted. Many investors favoured Mangaluru due to its port facilities, making it ideal for exports. MRPL's initiative marks a significant step toward realising this potential.

As all refineries & steel plants asked to produce green hydrogen for its internal use this may not be considered as a step towards Green Hydrogen cluster. The significant step actually comes when ONGC starts construction of its Green Hydrogen unit in Mangaluru.

Karnataka to be a key driver of India’s transition to clean energy: Study

A study published on Tuesday by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) one of Asia’s leading research institutions and climate think-tanks states that with a green hydrogen potential of 5 MTPA (Million Tonnes per Annum) each, Karnataka and Maharashtra rank second after Gujarat, which has an estimated potential of 8.8MTPA green hydrogen.

I think offshore renewable energy potential of Karnataka is not considered in this estimation.

MP meets Paswan, seeks support to transform DK as food processing hub

In the letter, apart from listing out the various prospects and available resources in the region, the MP also proposed various key initiatives to turn the coastal district into a hub of both agro and fish based food processing activities.

He said that establishment of NIFTEM-affiliated capacity-building centre could focus on upskilling local youth in modern food processing technologies, especially for region-specific crops like arecanut and coconut. Such a centre would ensure that local farmers and entrepreneurs are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to participate in and benefit from the food processing sector.

Capt. Chowta said that conducting a series of workshops in collaboration with the Ministry and NIFTEM would train local entrepreneurs, fishers, and farmers in advanced marine processing techniques, improving value addition and marketability of products. With the region’s strong marine industry, enhancing these capabilities can have a significant positive impact, he said.

The MP said that setting up an agro-processing incubation center would support startups working on innovative processing solutions for local produce. By promoting entrepreneurship and job creation, this incubation centre would play a key role in fostering economic growth in the region, a release said.

MP Capt Brijesh Chowta urges finance min to fast-track key projects for City’s growth

In his appeal, Chowta stressed the strategic importance of several projects aimed at transforming Mangaluru into a key trade, commerce, and innovation hub. Top on the list are the long-pending Mangaluru-Bengaluru Highway (NH-75) completion, the Indian Coast Guard Academy, and the merger of Konkan Railway with Indian Railways.

Chowta also proposed new initiatives to boost the region’s economy, including attracting Global Capability Centres and establishing a p,remier banking institution. “These initiatives will turn Mangaluru into a major hub for economic activity and bolster its coastal security,” Chowta said after the meeting. “I’m confident these projects will bring about the holistic development of Dakshina Kannada,” he said.

The MP also made a strong case for an Institute of Banking Research and Training (IBRT), citing the region's legacy as the heart of India’s banking sector. "Our region is the cradle of banking, and it’s only fitting we host a premier institution to honor that legacy,” Chowta added.

The MP also advocated for the initiation of innovative development projects, such as attracting Global Capability Centres and establishing a premier banking institution. A detailed memorandum was presented to the Minister during the meeting.

I think it is Intitute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT). Iif so, initially, as Mangaluru is well connected to the Gulf countries this institute could help to provide better services in AI, ML etc for BFSI sector in the Gulf region.

ಕರಾವಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯುನ್ಮಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಬಂಧಿತ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆ ಗಳಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತೇಜನ ನೀಡುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹು ವರ್ಷದ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ‘ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಐಟಿ ಪಾರ್ಕ್’ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮೂಲೆ ಸೇರಿದೆ. ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ದೇರೆಬೈಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿಯೋನಿಕ್ಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ 4 ಎಕ್ರೆ ಜಮೀನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಐಟಿ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಲು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ವಿದ್ಯುನ್ಮಾನ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ನಿಗಮ ನಿಯಮಿತ (ಕಿಯೋನಿಕ್ಸ್) ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯು ಮುಂದಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಶೇ.40ರಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಐಟಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿರಲಿದ್ದು, ಉಳಿದ ಶೇ.60ರಷ್ಟು ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ, ವಸತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಆವಶ್ಯ ಮೂಲ ಸೌಕರ್ಯಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಮೀಸಲಿಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಜನೆ ಜಾರಿಯಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹಲವು ಬಾರಿ ಘೋಷಣೆಯೂ ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಯಾವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಕೈಗೂಡಿಲ್ಲ!

ರೈಲ್ವೆ, ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಮಾನ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣ, ಸುಸಜ್ಜಿತ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀ ಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಗಳು, ಉತ್ತಮ ಸಂವಹನ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ, ನವಮಂಗಳೂರು ಬಂದರು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಇವೆ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿದರೆ ಜಾಗದ ಮೌಲ್ಯವು ಸುಮಾರು ಶೇ.20ರಷ್ಟು ಕಡಿಮೆ. ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಹಾಗೂ ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ 25ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಎಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಿಂದ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ 12 ಸಾವಿರ ಎಂಜಿನಿಯರ್ಗಳು, ಸುಮಾರು 150ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಿಂದ 40 ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪದವೀಧರರು ಪ್ರತೀ ವರ್ಷ ಹೊರಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳಿದ್ದರೆ ಇವರಿಗೆ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಸುಲಭ. 50ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಇನ್ಕ್ಯಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಐಟಿ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ಮರೆತ ಸರಕಾರ!
ಬೇಷನ್ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿವೆ. 250ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಐಟಿ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಚೇರಿ ಹೊಂದಿವೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಐಟಿ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳು ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 5 ಸಾವಿರ ಕೋ.ರೂ. ವಹಿವಾಟು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿದರೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನವ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲ ವೆಚ್ಚ ಕಡಿಮೆ. ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ಟೆಲಿಕಾಂ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು, ಡಾಟಾ ಕಮ್ಯೂನಿಕೇಶನ್ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳಿವೆ. ಇತರ ನಗರಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿದರೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಡಿಮೆ ನಿರ್ವಹಣಾ ವೆಚ್ಚ, ಕಡಿಮೆ ಹೂಡಿಕೆ ವೆಚ್ಚ ಇದೆ. ಐಟಿ ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತೇಜನ ನೀಡಲು ಎಸ್ಟಿಪಿಐ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

- ಸರಕಾರದ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಐಟಿ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ ಬೆಂಬಲ
- ದೊಡ್ಡ ಐಟಿ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ಸರಕಾರದ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ
- ಬಿಯಾಂಡ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡಬೇಕು.
- ಐಟಿ ಪಾಲಿಸಿ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನಿಸಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಕೇಂದ್ರಿತವಾಗಿರುವ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ರಿಯಾಯಿತಿ
- ಐಟಿ ನೋಡಲ್ ಆಫೀಸರ್ ಕಚೇರಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತೆರೆಯಬೇಕು
- ಸ್ಟಾರ್ಟ್ಅಪ್ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಯುವ ಜನತೆಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಹಾಗೂ ನಿಯಮ ಗಳ ಸರಳೀಕರಣ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು

ಐಟಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಉದ್ದಿಮೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಶೇ.95ರಷ್ಟು ಮಂದಿಗೆ ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಆವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಪೂರೈಸಿದರೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ಉತ್ಸುಕರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಖಾಸಗಿ ಐಟಿ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳನ್ನು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಸರಕಾರದ ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಐಟಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಐಟಿ ಪಾರ್ಕ್, ನೋಟಲ್ ಆಫೀಸರ್ ಕಚೇರಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡಬೇಕು.

ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಕೇಂದ್ರಿತವಾಗಿ ಐಟಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಕಂಪೆನಿ ಆದಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಅವಕಾಶಗಳು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ತೆರೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಐಟಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದೊರೆಯಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಸರಕಾರದ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಅತೀ ಅಗತ್ಯ. ಐಟಿ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಆರಂಭದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚಿಂತನೆ ನಡೆಯಿತಾದರೂ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಕೆಲವು ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದ ಅದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಭೂಮಿ ಲಭ್ಯತೆ, ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಸುಧಾರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಸರಕಾರ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರೆ ಐಟಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ದಿ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸರಕಾರ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಗಮನ ನೀಡಬೇಕಿದೆ.

Summa: Undivided DK district has 25 engineering colleges producing 12,000 engineerging graduates annually and other colleges in the region produce 40,000 graduates annually. To generate employment locally to these graduates in IT industries the government has to take up following measures.
* Subsidy to IT companies centered around Mangaluru
* Establishment of promised IT Park
* Encouragement for big IT companies to open offices
* Priority to beyond the monster city concept
* IT Policy for providing subsidy
* IT Nodal Office in Mangaluru
* Simplification of startup rules & creation of awareness

What are the real technical reasons for not setting up IT Park in Mangaluru? Is Blueberry Hills not suitable for constructing a building? Is soil loose? If so why not try somewhere else like Padil, Vamanjoor etc?������

ಮೀರ್ ಗ್ರೂಪ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ರಫೇಲೇ ಮೊರಾಝೊ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಂಪನಿಯ ಉತ್ಪಾದನಾ ಘಟಕ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರೆ, ಆಫ್ರಿಕಾ, ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರಾಚ್ಯ ದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಪರಿಸರ ಸ್ನೇಹಿ ಕಟ್ಟಡ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳನ್ನು ರಫ್ತು ಮಾಡುವುದು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಪರಿಸರಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂರಕವಾಗಬಲ್ಲ, ಕಾರ್ಬನ್ ನೆಗೆಟಿವ್ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಆದ್ಯತೆ. ಸೋಲಾರ್ ಪ್ಯಾನಲ್ ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ 45 ಎಕ್ರೆ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಂತ ಹಂತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉದ್ಯಮ ವಿಸ್ತರಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ನಿತಿನ್ ರತ್ನಾಕರ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಮಂಗಳೂರನ್ನು ಹಸಿರು ಇಂಧನ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಗುರಿ ಇದೆ. ಕಲ್ಲು ಇಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯ ಪರ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ ಸೋಲಾರ್ ಪ್ಯಾನಲ್ ಸಹಿತವಾದ, ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸಬಲ್ಲ ಗೋಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಹವಾಗುಣ ಇಟಲಿ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದು, ವಿಫುಲವಾಗಿರುವ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ತಯಾರಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಒಂದು ಚದರ ಮೀಟರ್ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಕಟ್ಟಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಒಂದು ಕಿಲೋ ವ್ಯಾಟ್ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಉಳಿಕೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ತನ್ನು ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡಬಹುದಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಹೊಸ ಮಾದರಿಯ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸಬಲ್ಲ ಟೆಕ್ನಾಲಜಿ ಇಟಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು, ನಾವು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದರು.

Are they planning for saltwater batteries? Can water from desalination plant be used for this? Hope they will expand to photovoltaic (PV) vehicle bodies or Vehicle Integrated PhotoVoltaics (VIPV) also in future for vehicles running with sodium-ion batteries.

This could be the second industry in the region for Energy Transition & Climate Actions (ETCA) after Praj Genx. Could be third if we include Aspen/Synefra/Suzlon.

... During this calendar year, the region attracted more than 45 IT companies, with several international and major Indian corporations establishing offshore facilities.

Some prominent companies that have come to this region include NCR Atleos, Vinyl Equity, BOSE Engineering, Hexaware, Tech Mahindra, Infosys BPO, and EOX Vantage. These companies have set up offshore centres in Mangaluru, driving employment and innovation. According to industry sources, more IT giants are in the process of setting up their centres in these coastal districts.

Mohammed Hanif, chief technology officer at Novigo Solutions, Mangaluru, and part of the Silicon Beach of India campaign, shared that during pre-Covid times the coastal belt had only 150 IT companies. However, it grew to 250 in the last four years. Last year, it was around 205, and now it crossed 250.

The entry of new IT giants will generate employment. Infosys BPO, which moved its operations to Dakshina Kannada, already hired 1,000 candidates and is expected to double in a few months. ...

The region's IT-friendly infrastructure supports this growth. Bhat indicated that 2025 will see the launch of one IT park, with two more following in 2026. The offline workforce is expected to increase from 2,000 to 5,000 within two years. Currently, undivided Dakshina Kannada has approximately 30,000 IT professionals working remotely.
