Permanent fix for Regina sink hole could cost $15M

15 million to fix a pothole they must be unhinged do something else with it like make a little late or something. Don’t be stupid like you’re always with everything else.
A sinkhole is not a pothole.

Still it is a crazy amount. Cities seem incapable of doing anything for a reasonable price these days. Think of the new Aquatics Centre or Saskatoon's Arena.

Fixing the hole is the easy part the money is being spent rebuilding and relocating the storm drain that failed. significant underground works, and rebuilding of surface infrastructure.

City to consider buying Eagles Club for homeless shelter
The total cost is estimated at $5.6 million, less than the $7.5 million price tag floated for the Albert Street sites.
The total cost to convert the Eagles Club’s building is estimated at $5.6 million, less than the $7.5 million price tag floated to pursue the Albert Street site.

Of that, the purchase price is $2.6 million and renovations are tagged at $3 million. The city would also have to provide another $400,000 to revert the Nest back to its original state once the shelter has moved.

That $6 million total price tag would be covered entirely by funding provisions from other levels of government.

The provincial government is still offering the same deal negotiated with the last location: $3 million, in the form of a 10-year forgivable loan through the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation.

The city has already secured the other $3 million as a one-time housing and transit grant from the federal government. —-/ great news

People were wondering how the city suddenly came up with a new location when they had previously said that there were no other options. Knowing a bit about what’s been happening with the Eagles Club, this actually makes a lot of sense.

Following hours of discussion and debate at a special council meeting Tuesday, councillors voted not to reconsider a previous Central Library renewal project funding decision.
The July 9th decision approved up between $92 million and $119 million in debt funding along with a 5.5 per cent dedicated mil rate increase built into property taxes to rebuild the Regina Public Library’s (RPL) Central Library.

Letters: Regina airport land development plan should be grounded
'This proposed planning framework has no scientific backing and no basis in current reality, only fear-mongering,' writes Louise Mohr
Regina Airport Authority (RAA) CEO James Bogusz says we should be concerned that Regina residents in some nebulous future could seek restrictions to airport operations unless thousands of acres of land suitable for affordable housing are taken out of circulation.

A few of those were fantastic councilors. However, all of us here know that your sole metric of good vs. bad politician is how many cubic meters of concrete are poured during their tenure.
