I haven't spoken to that many people up set about the PAC getting the go ahead. Usually the type are the NIMBYS that are apposed to this thing. The same type who voted for our Mayor. ( I also voted for the mayor but regret it. )

It's sitting at the top of 1st ave as well, so will stand out more than usual. Will be interesting to see the final product on this one. Considering what was there before, I'll take this building.

The restaurant and lounge opened its doors during the summer of 2023. A distillery that had been planned as a key component of the restaurant was eventually abandoned.

In a social media post, Stills Co. said it would be closing permanently on Saturday.

“The restaurant industry is in difficult times, with high inflationary costs and low discretionary spend for many households, the impact is major for many businesses,” the post reads.
You were way too expensive for what kind of a town this is. You also took forever to setup and open.

Slower year for tourism in Kamloops overall. I suspect banning Airbnb rentals had a big impact on people visiting. Even the worst hotels in town cost a fortune.

Some of the best attractions like the heritage steam train experience ride is also gone due to the society's loss of track use: even less reason for visitors to go to Kamloops. The City needs to step in to resolve these issues by not only to help retain the best attractions in town, but to bring in more. Everything seems to be going backwards.

Maybe it will be a little better in 2025?

Agreed. I think the city should seriously look into buying the Wanda Sue and getting that back up and running. Can't believe it's just sitting in valleyview waiting for a new life. It would be the best couple million the city ever spent IMO.

One can only hope: fingers crossed!

Even if the old steam train is preserved in the museum, a cheaper alternative can be brought in to run the carriages. City of Port Alberni recently reopened its previously mothballed tour train ride by using a shunter instead of the old steam loco they used prior:

Not as interesting as before, but this still brings back visitors.

If you’re talking about my crane comment, yes it’s First and Columbia, sorry for little clarification.

I noticed that construction fencing is now up at the pulse on 8th. Kind of another Tranquille project.

Lets count it as a another Tranquille project.

Thompson Landing x 2 (Almost done)
Innova x 2 ( Under Construction)
Red Sea Auto x 1 ( Under Construction)
Jamaican Kitchen x 3
Brendan Shaw x 1
Duchess x 2 (Under Construction)
501 Tranquille Rd x 1 (Complete)
562 Tranquille Rd x 1 (Almost Complete)
Co-op x 1 (Planning)
Interior Community Services x 1 (Soon)
Country Auto (Pulse) x 2 ( Under Construction)

Any word on the Dynasty Garden (227 TRANQUILLE RD) project? Somebody bought the lot for $2,600,000 in 2023. Seems like a lot of money for that.
