The Argyle section of the Crosstown Trail is almost done and looking nice. I imagine they won't put the barrier in until next year, and then they'll start the Aberdeen section. This block of Argyle is one-way just like Saunders.

The City does have a tender out for phase II of the trail that closes on Oct 3rd, so they will likely work on another part of the trail late in the fall. I'm just not sure what part of it is considered phase II.

I dont know what kind of barrier would work the best as it has to be open for the driveway access and plowing of course

On the subject of the cross-town trail, this is one serious lease: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-b...tion-1.7332496

$30K a year for 420 square meters of trail.

Wow. Agreed that the city should just buy that portion of the property.

Was driving around downtown earlier this week and was reminded of the eyesore that is the current state of the centennial building. Has anyone heard whats up with it? Doesn't seem like much activity has happened, and I haven't seen any new news in quite some time.

Thinking more about this, why bother? Why not just go from Aberdeen south along York, to the east, to the west, extend Aberdeen's section across Westmorland, then south along it, to the existing trail. All public ROW.

Clearly they're trying to put true trails through the whole of Rabbit Town, so making bike lanes head into intersections and run along roads when they could put down actual trails is a bit of a waste in terms of results and doesn't look good compared to the rest of the network. Even if it costs them some lease for this portion, they want that sold-off segment of old right-of-way to put true trails on, so the municipal trail network is actually cohesive and complete, not just patched together.

The bike lanes have to cross Westmorland and York regardless (just at supremely annoying mid-block intersections), and run along Aberdeen parallel to here. There doesn't seem to be an issue running a trail across private land off the rail ROW elsewhere nearby- seems odd to acquiesce to such a fee when the owners of this soon-to-be-developed plot as well as Sobeys don't seem to take issue with its presence.

Lots of activity behind the old train station today with a crane on site. Looks like the site prep for the foundation is mostly done.

I guess they're doing everything faster than I thought.
