Have you guys seen the church that was converted to residential? I think it was downtown ish/point douglas. I get similar vibes here.

I might have the location completely wrong.

165 Provencher was approved by the Riel Community Committee. Renderings and floor plans can be found here under item #3.

Nice. 174 Provencher across the street is up to ~4 floors now. Going quicker after it lingered in foundation prep stage for a while.

Drove by the other day and that building is going to really change how Provoncher feels! Especially when the apartment across the street starts going up!!

Looking good, thanks for the pic! What a massive improvement that building is going to be over the gravel parking lot that was there.

Looks great. I think that is it for height. Perfect for that street.

I'm from YIMBY Winnipeg and we need your help getting City Hall to approve the proposed building at 174 Provencher Blvd. The proposed building would be 4 stories high and would contain 45 residential units plus two commercial units. It would be located only 1.5 blocks away from the Provencher Bridge and would help make Provencher Blvd a more desirable place to live/visit. The site is currently a large gravel parking lot.

Here's a video we made about the project:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S2Pa-Lpozk

The project was approved back in May but has since been appealed by a nearby business owner. You can read the appeal here (scroll to the bottom):
https://clkapps.winnipeg.ca/DMIS/Vie...ac/2023/a23895

You can support the project by submitting your comments to the City of Winnipeg using the link below:
https://legacy.winnipeg.ca/shared/ma...on/contact.asp

All comments must be submitted by 12:00 pm on July 10th. When you register as a delegate, select "Other" for the committee you want to address and type in "Appeal Committee." The relevant agenda item is:

Appeal - Variance - 174 Provencher Boulevard - DAV 197719A/2021C

You don't have to write anything fancy. Just say that you support the project and would like the Appeals Committee to approve it. This project would make a great addition to the main commercial stretch of Provencher Blvd!

It's such a game changer when heading west bound. Definitely changes the vibe of the street. Depending on what fills the CRUs, hopefully it will bring some much needed night life to that strip.

I always thought this strip would be an ideal location for a bit more upscale and Franco-style Transcona Mile. Say what you will about Transcona but starting at the Legion/Central and ending the night at the Pandy or Spike is a blast on a summer Saturday night and Regent can be bustling.

(I say only half-jokingly haha, no more bars on Provencher please, the CCFM bar is super fun and the little sports bar has some moments of being fun too).

As far as I know that's still the current design.

Haha, I definitely agree. I was thinking more along the lines of bakeries, cafes and ice cream shops, thrift stores that stay open a little later (a la Corydon). Le Croissant is probably my favourite spot in St. B and its open later into the evening, but it's tucked all the way down Tache (nothing wrong with that, as NOLA, Bar Accanto and Pauline's are all in it's vicinity, but would look amazing being open on Provoncher.)
