The argument is that you put 60% of the cost in to get 60% out, If you buy a house and it goes up 20%, it doesn't matter if you put 60% or 100% in, you get 20% returns on your initial investment.

The big question in my mind is if mortgage providers will provide lending for the 60%?

The moment Eby lost the election.

Pretty sure this is some free meme publicity and public sympathy for Eby and the BCNDP.

US presidents get shot at, ours get stung by bees, same difference.

Why wouldn't they? They seem to have been happy with the federal scheme when they were lending 90%. The BC scheme potentially gives them new customers for a mortgage who might otherwise have been unable to buy, and possibly will not be stretched as far financially to be able to buy a new home.

It seems that this will be on a case-by-case basis for specific developments? I wonder if they include the 2600 Heather Lands homes in their 25,000 number?

Quote:
Eby explained the program, at a cost of $1.29 billion annually, will be done through partnerships with non-profits, home builders, and institutions that might be able to provide land.

And if the property goes down in value? Who’s left holding the bag then?

Presumably the purchaser. But that's no different from any other home purchase. The debt doesn't disappear just because the home drops in value.

In this case the amount owed by the purchaser should be less. Let's assume they put 10% of the purchase price down as a deposit. That means they're paying a mortgage on 50% of the price, and 40% of the debt has only had a 1.5% annual interest rate applied. They should owe less when they sell, than if they had paid interest on 90% of the purchase price.

Multiple BC Conservative candidates express strongly feelings about the 2020 US election, claiming that the election was stolen, and that the Jan 6 insurrection was a false flag by Antifa:

It's pretty ridiculous that this is where we're at, but at the very least the only one of these candidates that has a realistic chance of winning is Harman Bhangu in Langley-Abbotsford.

Obviously the CPBC should not be running these candidate, but I don't think the conservative candidate in North Island-Haida Gwaii or Cowichan Valley is very relevant.

Leaked Dossier Reveals 200 Pages of Conspiracies and Controversial Statements From John Rustad’s BC Conservative Candidates

https://pressprogress.ca/leaked-dossier-...john-rustads-bc-conservative-candidates/

Quote:
British Columbia’s soon-to-be defunct centre-right BC United Party prepared a nearly 200-page dossier of opposition research on John Rustad’s far-right BC Conservatives – and now the entire document has leaked onto the Internet in the middle of the election campaign.

The document, which was uploaded to Scribd and posted on social media by former BC Liberal MLA and current radio broadcaster Jas Johal, focuses largely on past statements posted on social media by BC Conservative leader John Rustad and his party’s candidates.
I wonder how this bodes for moderate conservative voters. Yaletown is a riding I will be watching closely, as it is full of BC Liberals who voted federally for the Liberals, rather than the more rural types that voted BC Liberal but federally Conservative.

Some leaks are more mild, like a poor-taste Halloween costume, some are extremely distrubing, like wanting to overthrow the Government, and some are so stupid they're funny. This one is a highlight.

I think that's the stage when you threaten to move to another province/country.

"gonna govern"?

The NDP is still more likely to come out ahead based on seats, no matter the popular vote.

It's sort of what you see in the USA. You see a frustrated base that just wants change and the intrusive thoughts take hold where people will vote for the most batshit insane candidate to stick it to the establishment....but these same individuals fail to see these guys are just an extension of the same arm that has spelled doom but the policies that are likely to follow have a disastrous non-reversible impact.

My cousin who is a renter and a teacher is voting for the BC Conservatives. A "YOLO" vote because it might be a positive change.

I hope Rustad and co are just full of 🞵🞵🞵🞵. I do like fiscal conservatism and believe we need to address migration...but these lunatics are packing so much baggage.

I mean people thought Bush/Cheney were batshit insane but look where they are now. If anything establishments of both parties are more aligned and only pretend to hate each other during elections.

And look at voter turnout.. most people don't seem to care either way.

Seems like the NDP attacking Rustad for being too right wing would backfire. The right is being threatened by a good time. I would be better if the NDP called Rustad a Liberal and brought up things like him voting for the carbon tax, lol.

They won’t govern BC. As I pointed out much earlier, the skeletons would fall out of their closets the closer we got to election day, seamus’ post bears that out. To Falcon’s credit I bet that’s why he hung in as long as he did. As a veteran politician he knew it would happen.

There’s also truth to whoever posted about the polling data in relation to age. Despite what pollsters say older respondents are skewing the results no matter how much “adjusting for age” polling firms do.

It only matters if voters care about this, or pay attention. From what I've seen online I'm not sure if that's the case so far.
