Well, the rest of us have to live in the real world. If you say you are ranking tallest office buildings by roof height, you can say that. Then its Sears, and everything else. When its all said and done though, other towers like 350 Park will also factor into the list. Still, 1,300+ ft is nothing to laugh at, and 2 WTC will have a large presence.

This just in: all spires to be demolished due to The New York Lion's opinion. It does matter people.

I like the massing and height but need to see a large model of it as the building would appear when built. I don't like the trees way up there in the breaks but whatever.

Well considering that American Express might be the anchor tenant I am certain the design might see some changes.

There was a photo that was leaked but quickly removed some time ago, showing another, more detailed model:

That looks amazing. My only complaint is that it does not look good from the west side. Otherwise, it’s gorgeous.

But isn't this new Foster version still more of a "traditional" office design? I know BIG was brought in to design a layout meant for a media corporation like 21st Century FOX, but American Express seems like it could slot right in here. Interior reorganization would likely be needed, but I can't imagine a huge exterior redesign would come of it.

I'd love to be wrong though, I'm not a huge fan of this recent one. I'm a diamond enthusiast, so this one's too boxy for me. I also think it relies on the greenery gimmick a bit too much.

Thise terraces aren’t a “gimmick”. It’s what’s in demand now. You won’t see many new skyscrapers in New York going up without them. Sure, you may like the diamond at the top of the older version, but the tenants couldn’t care less.

This will eventually be the small transit hall that runs through 2 WTC, the only part of the building that's open to the street now.

Got to sign an anchor tenant first. Nothing happens until someone signs on to take up floor space. That may be a matter of weeks or years.

It's been mentioned by Silverstein and architects working on the tower that the design is meant to be 'flexible', so I imagine they may be able to adapt to AMEX's desires without drastically changing the overall design -- maybe the building's internal services are positioned in a way so that the amount and positioning of terraces can be changed easily, for example.

Revamped my Fulton Street rendering to look a bit nicer:

I mean it's definitely trendy, and it's also gimmicky. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. They look great in renders but don't look that great in person.

And yeah I like the diamonds.

I hope they tweak the very top, it looks too jumbled. The overhangs at the top are pretty jarring, the rest of the design is really solid.

It's not really trendy, it's not new. And it's no more gimmicky than having nice floor to ceiling windows, or high ceilings. It's what companies want. And if you're smart, and want to land tenants, it's what you do.

The height will be 1348 feet and the floors will be 82. To change the title.

^^^

Would be nice if they updated the DOB with new information. The tax lots and bin profiles for the whole WTC and its associated towers are a mess. IDK why its a secret with these towers.

Also curious as well.
