It's been a beautiful week here, with highs in the mid-20s. Tomorrow is going to be rainy and cold (high of 12), but the weekend into Monday should be seasonal with lots of sun (17, 19, 20). Summer weather returns on Tuesday (27) and Wednesday (24).
27C with a humidex of 31 and mainly sunny. The 1 degree cooler than the previous days was due to some cloud cover. A couple of thin clouds at different moments in the day but did very little to hide the sun.
Done on all of the mountain tops this morning here in Canmore.

Been dry and gloriously warm and sunny for a while now. But just before that, which was three weeks ago, it was going to be rainy and 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 for a couple of days. So, took on the task of overseeding the yards to green up the lawn again. But this time I spent quite a while pulling up quack grass by hand and then rented a dethatching machine from a guy 5 minutes away for only $20. Dude doesn't even ask for a deposit or phone number. Just says bring it back tomorrrow. I saw that he had another in his garage. You can buy those for under $200 or get a used one for $75 to $100.
Anyway, used the detaching rake in the front yard and then the machine in the back yard. Pulled up so much dead grass, but also makes your lawn look rough for a while.
Dropped the seed, some lawn soil in spots and watered 2-3 times a day for two weeks as it hasn't rained in like 2.5 weeks. Well, maybe once during that span. Applied fertilizer after five days.
Nice and green now after two weeks. Though there's some spots where the seed didn't take and I had to re-seed. Gotta love when the baby grass sprouts up. Took four days.

17C and mostly cloudy in Moncton at 11 AM, going up to 20C this afternoon.
Our drought continues. Except for one single tropical rainfall about 10 days ago, there has been virtually no precipitation in Moncton since the first week of August. We may get some rain next weekend.
On the bright side, the lawn has been dormant for quite some time. My lawn mower has been seeing very little action.
We had a thunderstorm last night (Friday), first rain in a while. High of 29.4 today, with a humidex of 35 and low of 18 this morning.

Went to Christie Lake Conservation Area for the first time in two years. I knew the forecast said 40% chance of a brief period of rain. Well, it definitely rained and it wasn't brief. Was only going to get 2.5 hours of fishing anyway, but then lost an hour sitting out of the rain in the pavillion. At least we did manage to land a nice pike.
I brought my wife's coworker with me for his first taste of fishing in Canada. Only came from Peru two months ago where he'd surfcast at the beach. He's totally unfamiliar with Canadian fish and wilderness. Where he's from around Lima it's very dessert like so he really soaks in anywhere with trees. Driving out of the park he was using a flashlight in the darkness to observe the side of the road and was fascinated by the frog jumping across the road and the skunk.
Anyway, boat got soaked and had to turn it over to drain. Today I give it a proper drying.
Don't know how that dock got f'd up. I figure it was from the monsoon earlier this summer, but then again, how long would it take to fix it? It's a floating dock.
And on the other dock, there's this thing for kayaks and canoes. Looks cool. Never seen it before.

Curiously, they have issued a frost advisory. The overnight low here will be 6C, but, I guess frost might be a possibility in some low lying prone areas. I am not personally worried. The long range forecast shows no real risk, at least until the end of the month (end of the forecast period).
