Well, it's better than a blank parking garage, but it doesn't look quite as good as I hoped. Has a very sterile street feel.

What's on the bottom floor? Is there any retail there, or that just parking garage still?

Overall, I still really love the tower. I think it looks great. I just wish it was about another 100ft. taller.

There will be retail on the first floor along Idaho Street, similar to other mixed use parking garages downtown.

This might be a hot take but now that the tower is near completion I feel like the Record Exchange building is too small for the space. If there was another building that was roughly the height of the parking structure (in place of the Record Exchange), then I would imagine that the facade of the parking garage would not be as boxy and plain looking, as we currently can see the "backside" as well as the street side. Maybe we can tack on 3 or 4 floors on top of the Record Exchange building to even out the space and add more mix-use space to downtown. I do love the mural/artwork on the Record Exchange so I don't want to lose that but a bigger building in that spot could really tie the entire block together in my opinion.

Here is a rough visual of what I mean. I don't think that the building should "compete" with the Arthur/12th and Idaho, but rather should help support the block. This would also help continue the density along 11th Street, especially now that Hotel Renegade, 11th and Idaho, and the other hotel under construction have contributed to higher density along this street.

Record Exchange buiding

Yes, it is perhaps time for the Record Exchange building to be updated - although I would miss it. I remember when Mike moved the business from the small shop on Orchard to its present location. Downtown was very dead in the early '80s when he did that and the move brought a small bit of pleasant urbanity to downtown.
I hope it will be replaced with something in a befitting style - perhaps reminiscent of a Jukebox?

I personally think we should just build a new record exchange there. Maybe paint the entire building in a similar way that the current building is done. It could be a really cool way to add more density while still keeping the charm that the business has downtown.

I’m not sure if it’s protected, but the Hitchcock Building (Record Exchange) is a historical building.

it looks better at street level than from the webcam. and i agree, as much as i like how the building turned out, it's a shame it's not another 10 floors taller.

does anyone know what the night lighting will be on this? i know i get a lot of visitors who really admire the zion building's LED lighting.

Workers putting fabric tighter strips on parking levels along Idaho Street. South side of building still not finished.
