I never liked Le 1000. It is too short to communicate much verticality, and it basically scans as being as tall as its "shoulders". But even if it were half again as tall, it would still be pretty mid due to the chunky detailing and dated colours.
I always thought that building and 1250 René Lévesque were analogous to a couple of Frankfurt buildings from the same period. But 1250 is better and Le 1000 is worse than its German counterpart.
(The 1250 analogue, Westendstrasse 1, is more flamboyant but somehow cheaper looking, unsubtle.)
