Maybe community spaces of some kind? Given the overflowing schools in NB and the use of portables in many places you would think that having extra space to expand would be a very good thing.

'Community Hubs' like the new North and South End schools? The Community Centre by the middle school is in good repair so perhaps not. Daycare? Maybe the town hall relocates to it?

Housing announcement on the way today for mini-home project on the East Side, hopefully will ease some pressure on the unhoused population.

I guess it’s going to be off Rothesay Ave?

On the border of the town of Rothesay would have been better…

What an snarky, unhelpful remark. Care to elaborate on why that location would be better than the one that has been chosen?

Because it might motivate the politically influential people in Rothesay to get after the province to fund the larger scale solutions that we need to address the housing and homelessness crises.

“The community will be located on land that is nestled in a valley beyond a forested hill off Westmorland Road and sits between Fernhill Cemetery (Westmorland Road), the new Saint John Energy substation and the upper parking lot of TD Insurance (Rothesay Avenue)”.

That's actually an awesome location for this.

Wow. I'm impressed.

Certainly a much better location/ vision than Brent Harris’s proposal for the Belyea Arena property.

Glad something like this is finally getting done. Now hopefully the province will do more to address the housing affordability crisis for traditional rental housing.

Really happy to see this development. I have heard a lot of positive things from friends in Fredericton about the 12 neighbours. I hope they don't hit too many roadblocks, have a smooth rezoning, and can get started quickly.

Montréal Metropolitan Airport is showing Saint John as one of its future destinations, and Pascan is the largest carrier so maybe an announcement for new flights to Montréal. Airport offers free shuttle to downtown which is only 15 km away - be more convenient !

There is a fire hydrant in front of property - so must have water in area

Agreed. I don't see any problems with rezoning.

The only item is the Accommodating Substance Misusers. What model will the homes use, from rare to high tolerance.

http://www.drugsandhousing.co.uk/Guide%20for%20Housing%20Providers_final.pdf

I would hope that it has low tolerance model, in order to provide for newly clean users an environment away from the drugs.

What does 12 Neighbors follow?
