Deville coffee has opened on Dunsmuir. Looks to have quite a bit of seating, and in the middle of the day was much busier than the Atrium. Presumably full of Amazonites.

Warning: Rant about The Post retail.

Unless they are dreaming about two full towers of Amazon workers I have a hard time thinking how long their concourse retail is going to last. Everything feels so disjointed from the street even with all the exterior signage. Even if you have a huge anchor tenant in Amazon did the really need to dedicate the most prominent corner of the building for an office lobby? Loblaws will probably do okay since there aren't that many large format grocery stores in that end of downtown. And good luck trying to fill the food hall space.

I'm not too worried. Once the gym and the rest of the food concessions open, i expect synergies and greater pull of customers.

Every time i've been at the post it's been busy enough. I posit it will only get busier as it gets cold and wet as well.

The bubble tea place in Hamilton ended up being Gong Cha.

The interior looks like some dated 60s airplane terminal than this

Hopefully they can hold out until the new VAG opens. I think that will really help change that area.

The problem with exterior perimeter retail at The Post is that none of those streets are retail streets.
Opposite The Post on each side are institutional or office open plaza spaces.
No one will be strolling down any of those streets the way they would the cafe shops on Robson opposite Library Square.
So each of those cafes (and yes, that's all they seem to have as smaller tenants) will have to heavily rely on Amazon workers and promotions to draw customers in.
If they had created a proper multi-level atrium mall, the complex itself could have been a drawing card to attract shoppers.
But we still haven't seen what the Food Court looks like (but I'm not sure where the access is?)

From the look of where there are posters, but no activity, the Food Court is at the top of the steps on Georgia (presumably with outside seating when the weather works), with a secondary entrance on Hamilton, next to the postman artwork, across from the QE Plaza. I assume the Art Gallery has its own cafe, and I wouldn't expect it to generate significant foot traffic to The Post.

I still love shopping/browsing at the City market. The space is a breath of fresh air compared to other "human scale" downtown retail spaces. The only reason why it isn't more crowded is that the developer did not turn this into a real mall with more retail shops, as well as the other anchor (food hall) not opening yet. Other than that, this is a great retail facility for locals.

I was wondering whether that frontage is for the Brazilian Steakhouse or the Food Court - renderings in this story suggest the Food Court was partially underground, but also shows tables fronting Georgia St.

I look and I'm pretty sure they still haven't applied for a building permit for the restaurant.

The hoarding to the right of the CityMarket inside the Homer side I think is the access to the food hall. Where the Starbucks and other kiosks I think is level 2 (?)

Quote:
Revision 1: To include installation of kiosks within the retail concourse on Level 2 and to address the addition of a temporary 1 h fire-rated hoarding wall between the retail concourse on Level 2 and the food hall on Level 1. Tenancies within the kiosks will be subject to future permits.

It was going to be 7,778 square feet.

Not sure what the status of their 55 Mercer project in Toronto is..

These were the rendering for Fogo in Vancouver. There's some glass facing outside but it's hard to tell where it is in the building.

Was the official opening of the building this week? Surprised about the timing of the news story:

Amazon's new office at The post in Vancouver expected to help revitalize downtown core

It was a new shared atrium between the two towers.

Quote:
Amazon is the sole corporate tenant at The Post, with its 1.1 million square feet of office space that includes the new atrium connecting a 21-floor South Tower and 22-floor North Tower. Amazon completed its move-in to the South Tower earlier this year, while the North Tower is on track to open in 2026.

BIV says they only have 2000 in the building with 4500 city-wide. I think 7000 was the planned capacity for both towers fully occupied.

Seems like they've activated the water feature along West Georgia. First time I've seen it on.
