Let's hope the Atlanta venue looks closer to the rendering than the drab finished building in LA.

Centennial Yards Residential Tower

What's up everyone! Leo here, a longtime lurker, I figured it was time to contribute to the forum. I was in Castleberry Hill yesterday and was able to snap this pict before the rain came in. This tower is looking real good as seen here looking north on Centennial Olympic Park Drive outside the Selfie Museum. The glass curtain wall will blend in well IMO.

I'll keep posting as I take more photos around town. Be well everyone

The quality of the renderings is good and I'm sure the finished product will be quite nice, but i would be much less let down if the shorter structures were at least in the 4 story range. It feels weird to have such short structures Downtown. State Farm is taller and half of it is below the viaduct.

^Agree, and it's also a bit of a bait and switch to not have residential. This had really great initial renderings that gave the impression of a dense neighborhood. I'm glad we're getting something here, and the apartment tower is great, but I wish they just built a connected neighborhood with a street grid like the initial rendering.

As a reminder, they were using this rendering just last year:

I am still holding out hope that the development will end up a connected neighborhood with a street grid. I'm just coming to terms with the fact that it wont be as initially imagined. I do wish CIM would release an updated visualization of the project, because it has surely changed.

Despite my pessimism in above posts, that picture is so amazing. I can't believe this giant hole in the fabric of downtown is being filled!

Also a certain someone on Twitter linked a permit filing by Centennial Yards for a 300k sqft data center at 10 Forsyth.

Nice pics, Julien. First crane tower base is installed. I imagine there will be 3 or 4 cranes on this phase of development.

Wow - across the street from the main MARTA station? That's about the worst possible location I can think of for this kind of redevelopment; hopefully the city gets its ban in place for beltline/MARTA adjacent data centers before this becomes a relaity.

That is located straight across from 56 (and 55) Marietta St. which is one the largest internet switching stations in the US. It connects to main line data trunks that send data all over the world.

It's part of Centennial Yards.

They filled the SAP to vest the rights to be able to build one in the future due to the impending ban.

In all honesty, it's not the worst location for a data center. The building fronting Marrietta is already a data center. Fairlie and Wall streets are not conducive to any type of pedestrian activity now, nor likely in the future. The next set of buildings to the nortwest are great buildings for a data center to neighbor. The only downside is the potential for activation along the Forsyth side of the block.
