I do love our downtown skyline but can't disagree that it's 'table-toppy'. Height restrictions are to blame. I guess it's fairly well known that our downtown height limits are tied to the Halifax Citadel. Currently there is a three tower project underway and a two tower project soon to start within the downtown. All five towers will be in the 20 - 22 floor range I believe. The Cogswell lands, which lie to the right-side of these previous pics, may have more generous allowable height. Maybe height concentrated on one side will create a lopsided and less attractive skyline? More distance and different angles provide a different overall look to a skyline and it remains to be seen whether the current 'best' angle remains so in view of tower projects underway or planned in areas other than downtown.
Here we see the Macdonald Bridge with downtown Halifax on the right hand side and Dartmouth on the left hand side. There are projects with I believe 7 towers currently underway with the tallest being 33 or 40 stories.

In this pic we have downtown Halifax on the left and the north end of the peninsula on the right. The tallest tower in this pic is 34 floors and is in the north end where there are plans for many more towers and up to 40 floors, perhaps more with density bonus.

Our tallest building is in this shot. From my north Dartmouth vantage point it looks rather short. The building sits on the north west arm. It's partly obscured in this shot by the left side of the right most tower of the MacKay Bridge.

Just off of and to the north west of the peninsula Seton Ridge has recently started construction. It'll be a year or so of road and other infrastructure build before we see any building start. Multiple 20 story buildings are planned. The site is the green bare area in the centre-ish of the pic.

And further north west along the basin...a 20 or so story building is under construction.

Still further along the basin is the Larry Uteck area. From my perspective I see the crest of the hill down to the basin where a fast ferry/bus station in planned for the future following construction the Mill Cove fast ferry/bus station further along the basin. Larry Uteck is building fast and furious towards the west but I can't see it from here due to down slope beyond the crest of the hill.

Bedford West is growing too with towers popping up there beyond the end of the basin.
