Jesus lol....Have you people never learned a thing since 1990? look around to most of the developed cities. They NEVER said gee wizz Sarg...Shorter should be better because it's the core of the Downtown lol.

Europe, many U.S. cities, Japan, etc. would beg to differ - many Downtown cores with primarily mid-rise buildings - 10 storeys would even stick out in some of those (i.e. Scandinavian cities, Washington D.C., etc.).Not everything Downtown needs to be a tower.

^Except that the product in Edmonton is far less inferior to what you find in Washington DC or Scandinavian countries or even outside the core of Amsterdam, etc...

Quite a difference from my visit to Vancouver over the weekend where they are building 50-60 story condo Towers along MetroTown and Brentwood Transit Centers. Amazing construction there.

It's because they have nowhere to construct low density housing whereas we have almost infinite land to constuct that on - Vancouver needs to build units somewhere, and the only place is up in the air.

If that tower actually gets built as shown, it'll be very prominent in the west end of the city, perhaps the tallest building west of 142 Street.
