I don't know Harley, seems like Jerry and Terry finished off the structure overnight after a few months on the couch.

Doesn't look like I can embed an Instagram picture or post, but this one seems to have progressed quite significantly finally

True, Instagram images can't be linked directly from here. But you can always rehost them and then post a link to that. Terry and Jerry are making some progress!

One of the few buildings I've seen in Ottawa opt for a steel frame structure versus concrete. Any particular reason why that might be?

Steel is more expensive, but it goes up far quicker (cheaper labour?). That said, any time savings have been lost after three or four months with no progress.

I'm sure there are other reasons why steel can be superior to concrete, but I'd probably just be speculating.

I thought this was going to be another Dymon location...and it looked like it was being made with Sea Containers when I first observed it in person on my way to an appointment...lol

Some fairly impressive progress after months of stagnation.

I was getting so used to that neon green glass mat sheathing with the yellow water barrier, it's kind of a nice splash of colour along one of the gloomiest stroads in the region, but the mineralwool insulation is starting to go up today. Soon we'll see if the ribbed metal-look cladding and red brick comes to fruition.

Do any these buildings have any retail? Density is nice but it would be good for these thousands of new residents to have a place to get a coffee without going to St Laurent mall.

There's a Ten Toes Coffee shop 2 mins walking!

Last time I was in the area about a year ago there were zero coffee shops within a 2 minute walk. There is a Starbucks in St Laurent Mall.

You must of missed it - Ten Toes is right across the street at 1109 Cyrville Road. It has been there since 2020 - great spot!

In any case, this 'Station 27' development does have a commercial unit fronting on Cyrville Road.

I stand corrected.

"Station 27" sounds like a police or fire station.

My thoughts as well, but that site only had a couple houses before. No fire station. So weird name for sure.

As for retail in the area, I see a few eateries, barber shop, furniture store, Caisse Desjardin and an escape room. There's also a laundromat, but I assume every unit will have laundry included. There are a few other things a few blocks away, like the Kiddie Kobler, Matress Mart, Value Village. There's a lot more along St-Laurent, but as soon as you have to cross a stroad, it becomes a pretty big barrier.
