Typically buildings with curvature that I've seen just achieve this with a series of flat faceted panels. I imagine actually curved glass is substantially more expensive.

Yes architects
HPA (Hariri Pontarini) are famous for using
curved glass across multiple projects under construction in the city... rather than the cheap out you described (using multiple flat panels). There's tons of curved glass used through out
The Well.
If an HPA project is
rendered with curved glass... odds are it will be built with curved glass (both convex or
concave as seen below):

Even the 2 mid-rises behind the 88 Queen tower were built as rendered with curved glass.
And yes... it's more expensive, but worth it.
