The site is fenced, but still no active construction and it is mid-summer.

98% of the people of Edmonton dont care to be in this Park. But will pay through their taxes.

Probably the same people thought the same about the Arts Centre by City Hall...but that's how taxes work sometimes. You can't make everyone happy.

Keep in mind that this is CRL funded and only catching Downtown up with amenities given how many people live there and how little 'park' space there is for an area of that population. It will serve multiple groups, visitors, workers and residents in the core and beyond; this is far more than just a neighbourhood park.

It will be a good green lung for Edmonton's downtown, and hopefully the City council will maintain it well and keep the bad elements out at all times. I'm sure local residents would come here, especially those with dogs. Beyond that, more high-density commercial and residential buildings can be built around it.

Same for City-funded parks anywhere in the city - I live near Commonwealth and I'll never go to a new fancy park built in Windermere or Meadows for instance, yet my taxes helped paid for them. Same goes for widening arterial roads in the burbs that I will never drive on. Next.

^bingo. If anything we should all be happy to see more free amenities for our citizens and visitors to enjoy, keep fit and have fun.

I thought a lot of the new park features in new neighborhoods were paid and built by the GC for the area when developing the neighborhood. Just like all the residential roads, and half the arterials. Playgrounds and extra features link rinks and tennis courts are paid for by the community league for the area....

I question your percentage on this, but certainly, not every one will be for the park. Just like not everyone was for the arena, and not everyone is for suburban recreation centers, and some don't want art galleries, or bike lanes, and some don't want their money going towards roads they dont use, or LRT... etc.

But.... that's just part of being in society, my friend. Sometimes we pitch in on shit we don't want, so that others will pitch in on shit we want. We are all in this together. Keep your stick on the ice.

Yup, if you don't want your property taxes going to things you won't apparently use, go squat on some Crown Land.
