I haven’t been there in a few years (have gone there for shows), but I’ve never been under the impression that its overly used. The business guys can probably speak more about its financial success. Regardless, as Moncton said, it’s a waste of prime land and should be relocated.

Obviously not in Halifax but the Lido pool in Chester is a great example of this.

There's also the outdoor pool in Bedford, overlooking the basin. It's a bit dated and not central, but it's a pretty nice facility. Something like the Second Beach pool in Vancouver would be great though.

Commons Pool is IMO in the perfect spot. It's a pool for the community/city, not tourists, so placing it in the most central spot of the peninsula is great.

I understand they are planning to eventually replace the Submarine Park. Not a pool, but a solid splash pad which does not conflict with the walkability of the area would be a great companion to "The Wave"

Perhaps possible with extension of the boardwalk in that area.

The Commons pool is fantastic. A very urban facility, very well-used and well-designed. I've been there lots with my kids. Ideally it might be a bit farther back from Bell Road but it's not a huge deal. (If the skatepark and the pool switched places that would be better.)

As was true in Boston's case, the jury will be out on whether or not it was an improvement (theirs proved to be one) until it is completed.
I have been trying to think of a comparable project, of that comes to mind is in Rochester NY, they removed one half of the inner interstate belt that circled downtown and replaced it with a boulevard that has mixed use building along it. This is pretty similar to what has happened here. Not as big potential wise, but larger in scope.

I remain curious how the grade change from Brunswick down to Barrington and Hollis will be addressed.

I have heard the Trade Mart Building will be redeveloped. It really is not a good use of land. Any news on this?

I think the Trade Mart building is perfect spot for a new Metro Centre.

Interesting, do you have a source for this? it's a really nice park. Hopefully it will be relocated and not completely scrapped.

Absolutely it would! A metro centre replacement HAS to be included somewhere in this project.

I don't think the footprint is big enough for a new Metro Center especially as project creep will undoubtedly add many bells and whistle's.

I measured on google earth. Seems big enough to me. Plus it was selected as a possble site in a report done back in the early 2000's.

I don't see why we can't have the best of both worlds, with a New Scotiabank Center at the base or even partially underground with all the high rises around it... the roof could even be open green space.

The new section of Cogswell Street looks nice. Some street interaction would be nice but that is out of the project's scope.

Interesting bikeway design. I guess it's going to be bi-directional?
