He was last on the CJOB morning show before he was let go after being off work for a while.

There was one worked up lady yesterday saying to a small group of like minded people after the meeting was canceled, she was there yesterday to complain to the hearing about how Winnipeg runs everything in the region and she was going to stop that in the future.

With people getting worked up like that, I can see why the RCMP had a few officers there.

As a conservative that sees a lot of the Right wing stuff in my feed....
The 15 min city thing IS really stupid. There are rumors being told that you would need a pass to leave your 15 min neighborhood, and that cars would be taken away. NONE of that is true. Just like people who claimed that when the Calgary water main broke it was a government ploy to control your water and if you voted a certain way you would not get water... CRAZY PERSON STUFF. The right has nut jobs, and the Left has nuts jobs. What we need is people who can recognize the crazies on both sides and not just choose to be quite because the crazy is coming from their side.

As an example, if the conservative party used bots in their last social media event... Someone needs to be fired, its needs to be public and we need to do better. The same should be said about the super high positive reviews about arrive Can. How is it one of the most positive reviewed app on earth? WE NEED TRANSPERICY FROM EVERY ONE

I can't argue with these comments. I'm not a conservative but extremism on both sides is definitely taking it's toll. There are enough real problems to concentrate on without using valuable time and resources fighting against imaginary ones.

A little bit more about Plan 20-50. Municipalities can opt out if they so desire.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manit...gion-1.7300171

I'm still not too sure what the advantages of this plan were to be. There was a mention of potential investors potentially liking the idea of consistent development rules in the region, but that seemed kind of vague to me.

I think the fact the PC's themselves wanted it "paused" says a lot.

Big L for Wab IMO

The plan is supposed to make it easier to plan across municipal boundaries. PCs are playing politics, they introduced the plan. The WMR has existed in different forms for 26 years and had finally gotten its shit together. This is just kicking this can down the road.

I agree. It's clear to me that the CoW will never expand it's boundaries, because of the political power of the surrounding RMs. There are far too many infrastructure disputes to ever have an agreement, and the province would never rock that boat. But since unicity there has always been regional planning in the area. It looks like this is just an update of existing agreements.

The mayor of Selkirk came out with an interesting statement today on one of TV news reports I watched.

He said he did not see why a plan was needed as more people drive from Winnipeg to work in the Selkirk area than drive from Selkirk area to Winnipeg to work.

"Small percentage of Big Thing is still pretty big", and several of its corollaries, summarize a surprising number of headlines once you start looking for it.

It was Selkirk's CAO, not the Mayor.

He's right about the commuting patterns being comparable (which keeps Selkirk out of the Wpg CMA) but that's largely a result of Selkirk's main employer, the Gerdau steel mill, drawing employees from Winnipeg.

Selkirk also recently pulled out of the Red River planning district a few years back so intermunicipal collaboration definitely isn't a priority for them.

It's funny cause this plan supports bringing commuters to Selkirk and other regional towns, not just funnelling workers to Winnipeg...

So I don't really get their argument
