Well for one the new bridge will have much wider lanes, no longer requiring tractor-trailers to take two lanes when crossing.
Also an actual useable multiuse pathway. I'm a cyclist and have never crossed the bridge on my bike in its current configuration, but will after the new bridge is built.
And the new bridge will also have a free flowing connection to westbound hwy 17.
