Just passin thru the Village on a Saturday bike ride and noticed the fenced off lot at the corner of Stradbrook is no longer fenced off and is once again being used as a parking lot. Guessing the buyer isn’t planning on developing it anytime soon?

Yeah I just noticed this yesterday too. The site was fully fenced only a few days ago. Disappointing to see.

That being said, the Village was super busy last night. The Beer Can was completely full (probably like 200 people), tons of people outside the Taproom around midnight, Little Pizza Heaven had like 20 people in it at 12:30 am (busiest I've ever seen it) and ANAF was also completely full right until 2:00 am. The neighbourhood is definitely not "dead" despite what all the old people say (or at least the old people I talk to lol).

Yes sir, the tender closed on it July 22, but looking at Merx web site it appears that it has not yet been awarded to the lowest bidder.

Work was to be substantially completed by the end of October and total performance by end of November

I seem to recall something in the recent articles about how parking would once again be allowed on the site while the city negotiated with the potential buyer. Or it might be that the buyer would allow parking until the remediation began?

Burned out shell of a house plus the neighbouring property on the SW corner of South Osborne and Brandon mowed down and leveled today. Who's got the deets on what will be rising there?

Fencing is back up at 145 Osborne St. Looks like a skid steer was used to dig through some concrete for ESA samples. The company listed on the job-site sign is Tri-Core Projects, which seems to be a civil and environmental consultant.

There is now a "Coming Soon" sign up at 90 Wellington Crescent. Not much but it's something. I thought those old buildings would have been knocked down by now.

I think that Tri-Core is doing the civil work for Miller Environmental who was the lowest bidder for the contract. Miller owns one of the two locations near Winnipeg that accepts contaminated soils from old service stations for treatment

I wouldn't really call it a treatment centre, it's a 51-unit apartment building with 20 of the units being assisted living for seniors with mental health issues.

Here's an article about the building:

Do you know who currently owns the lot at 145 Osborne St? Is it still the City of Winnipeg or has the lot been sold already?

I think it's city owned because the remediation contract is with the city.

there was a tentative sale by the city to a numbered company a few years ago. I don't know if the sale is still valid and this is part of the condition of sale to close it.

If not the property would have to be cleaned up to sell it to a new owner.

New proposal for 589 Stradbrook - 8 units.

I like it. Let's get a couple dozen of these spread throughout the city.

I think it's attractive and fits nicely into the area, if the houses on either side are an indication.

It looks like it's exactly the kind of build the city is looking for.
