Apparently there is at least one in Ontario. Nfld., however does have at least one chain we don't have in BC, I ate at Swiss Chalet there recently, there aren't any in BC anymore. (Not to mention Ches's, I ate there too.) At least BC has Mary Brown's now.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Perhaps part of the logic is to test first in a market that is more difficult in terms of costs.

Was just on Tok and got two other Raising Canes ads popping up. One for Toronto and the other for Calgary saying “coming soon”
…plus multiple location in other parts of Canada. Likely they are prank ads as they were not very professionally made but very similar to the St. John’s ad.

Gahan House has announced they’re shutting down their Harbour Drive location at the end of the month.

Wow - the previous brew pub incarnation didn't last either. It can't be that beer is going out of style...??

While breweries have seen a bit of a downturn, I would not consider The Gahan House to be a "brewery" in the traditional sense. It's a chain restaurant that started as a brewpub, whos beer is brewed in macro quantities in PEI.

I was at Gahan a few months ago for the first time. I love local breweries and Gahan was quite nice, but just felt like going to a chain restaurant as opposed to a local brewery. Their food was good though and their Raspberry sour is excellent.

I didn’t realize there was any downturn. I’ve been surprised by how busy Banished is every time I go there. Bannerman is always packed, I went out to Dildo recently and the place was full. Landwash also seems busy. And I only go to these places in the daytime.

Some of these places are getting bad for actually have beer on hand. Went to Dildo and didn’t even get a beer because the few they had on tap wasn’t worth the cost.

The beer industry as a whole is in a bit of a decline right now. It's probably fine locally, considering we were about 10 years behind the rest of North America on the craft beer boom, we're probably also 10 years behind for the reversal. It doesn't help that the younger generation is consuming alcohol in much lesser quantities than previous generations have.

Blaze Pizza

Driving on Kenmount Road today I noticed the windows of Blaze Pizza are covered up in paper. Anyone know what is happening there?

I'm not sure what their normal hours are but on Google it shows they're closed Friday-Tuesday

I am surprised they lasted as long as it did as it was terribly over priced.
