Lovely photos, but they’d fit the “pic of the day” thread better than this one.

I love your photos so far man, keep them coming. Really nice composition. If you're still going out exploring new areas to shoot, you should check out west midtown, and castleberry hill. And then go check out some of the smaller neighborhoods where a lot of the action in Atlanta really takes place like inman park, East Atlanta Village, old fourth ward, and more.

glad you're liking it here! i was in philly for the first time last year for a week, helping out at a conference, and was very impressed by everything in my (albeit) very limited exploration.

Two projects, as expected, on the Midtown DRC agenda for August 13.

5:00 UPDATED APPLICATION: 1084 Piedmont Ave. NE (Old Sol Coffee)
Project Type: Updated proposal to re-use the existing ~1,360 SF single-story building at the northwest corner of 12th St. & Piedmont Avenue currently known as ‘Skate Escape’. The improvements are in the preparation of a new walk-up coffee shop (with no interior seating) including new storefront windows and entry doors along with an expanded exterior patio space including renovation of an existing canopy. New EV stations and bike racks will be provided on-site; while new solar panels will be installed on the roof. A small parking area will be provided in the western portion of the site

5:30 NEW APPLICATION: 155 7th St. NE (Hub Cypress)
Project Type: New 22-story student orientated multi-tower building at the southwest corner of Cypress St. and 7th St. (behind the historic Academy of Medicine building). It features 265 units including 1,194 bedrooms with 161 parking spaces provided via a podium above the ground floor amenities including coffee shop, leasing, fitness, and spa. Pedestrian and bike access is provided from 7th St. while vehicle access and loading are provided along Cypress St.

Almost ready to open and looks good. Was skeptical about changing the color but the white looks good.

Hard disagree. I'm so tired of white and gray. I liked the old color much more.

I thought I would prefer the old color, but now that it's finished I think the white is downright stunning. Somehow, the subtle architectural details seem to stand out even more in white.

The current white color blends more harmoniously with the surrounding buildings and environment, while the original yellow was actually too discordant.

Just for comparison.

EDIT: Also the condo tower 1280 West Peachtree used to be more of the yellowish badge color but was updated about a year ago and is now more in line with all the new towers springing up in the area.

Here is a pic of 1280 West Peachtree before and an Apple Street view of it now. Also if you scroll up and look at my original 2ed pic you can see 1280 West Peachtree in background.

Huff Road is a ridiculous traffic nightmare. This project will compliment that aspect very well.

Some roads in the A are really like Mad Max.

The Midtowne (Campanile)

I noticed some tents on the adjacent parking lot so I checked their permit. All fees have been paid. The final approval of the LDP is marked "Pending on 07/23/2024". Is this FINALLY happening?

I physically cannot hold my breathe any longer for this project. But if this actually starts moving in earnest, I will be more excited than i would have been had Opus materialized. What an absolute eye-sore and a black eye on the city leadership for allowing this boondoggle to drag out such that it has.

Just to add, because Dewberry just gets me going like no one else, but this site has created such a dead zone in midtown. Its not like the typical build site, which is inconvenient to pedestrians and drivers, but comes with the energy of progress and promise. The Campanille has had the energy of the gulch before CIM.

Plans for more GA Tech apartments behind the Academy of Medicine. Hope it comes to fruition.

One thing ive noticed out here is the lack of street parking on many corridors, however I also notice that the streets are not busy enough in many places for 4 lanes.

Has there been a push to allow street parking in more areas across the city? I notice huge deadlines in areas that do not have street parking compared to areas that do.

Has this been talked about?
