Eastern Ontario as well. The most common one is firewood with a container to put money in, but I've also seen various produce like corn, maple syrup and honey. In the towns and villages thread megadude even posted a picture of a self-serve coffee stand in Tweed.
Ironically I'm far more concerned about locking up when we are at our house in Napanee compared to Toronto (where you'd have to go through several doors to get to our unit anyways). We've had several break-in attempts, albeit very lackluster. Lots of down and out people looking for easy stuff to steal, but most aren't leaving the town proper and I doubt they'd be interested much in produce. Moreso things that are easy to sell.
