And another view of Olympic + Hill on the skyline from LA Reddit, this one taken from Runyon Canyon. Is it me, or does Olympic + Hill look taller from this vantage than the previous vantage from City Terrace?

^Love that angle/shot of DTLA! I remember when the tall glass tower in the foreground was just a skeleton of steel and concrete for the longest time... I think it had ads for the original Transformers movie draped on it... so circa 2007

Great shots!

I really miss the US Bank building's setbacks being floodlit. I wonder why they don't do that anymore; seems they haven't done it for many years now.

Also, I remember when the MTA headquarters building had the very top of it lit up in neon, which was in an orange-ish/yellow/ish color. I wonder why they stopped doing that as well.

DTLA_Drew, just make sure when posting the images, you right click on the image after uploading and select "Copy Image Address", then paste that between the Image tags below with no spaces:

I also miss when 777 Tower’s floodlights were lit during the holidays.

Didn’t Aon Center used to do that around the parapet?

Yup. I don't know why they don't do either of those anymore, too.

AND, it's been quite a number of years now that the Lindbergh beacon on top of City Hall hasn't been lit during the holidays. WTF? I'm hoping that during the Olympics in '28, they could have the Lindbergh beacon on.

The Oceanwide Plaza towers in Downtown Los Angeles have hit another obstacle after a stalking horse bidder for the project fell through this week.

Lawyers for Oceanwide said during a Tuesday court hearing that an undisclosed group was “identified” to potentially drop $500 million for the site but “did not meet deadlines” to submit a bid, The Real Deal reported.

totally forgot about that. Makes me think of how the arthur wills fountain in grand pk was switched off for quite awhile....originally due to the drought but also due too many ppl in city govt treating areas like dtla as though they're no bfd....a big nuisance. Made worse by ppl doing things like stealing copper wire for street lights....the somewhat new 6th st bridge has been dark for over 6 months.

From the Commercial Observer article:

"As attorneys work to nail down a deal, court records show that bids on Oceanwide are due on Aug. 15, with an auction set to take place Sept. 17."

So there's a bit of time before we'll have any real answers on this.

Oh I think I get it…I have her blocked. When anything good happens with Oceanwide or anything else, they seem to go missing….the first ounce of something possibly bad, she is the first to post. Lmao…so sad

No worries, you're not missing anything.

LA Reddit has really been on a roll lately. This one captures a jet in front of the moon above the downtown skyline.

I remember when the Figueroa @ Wilshire tower had that awesome fire and water sculpture (called Prime Matter). It rarely came on but it was awesome.

That Cantina looks good from the outside. LA Redditors reported that they were selling a beer and a shot for $10, which is cheap for downtown. But no matter what, there's no way I will eat the "food."
